We are pleased to announce that the long-discussed, much belated, Bounty System has been enabled!

Many thanks to @admin staff and his team for working so many hours and so very hard to make this finally become a reality.

Before attempting to use the system please read the Bounty Creation And Claims Guidelines located here:
https://www.twingalaxies.com/wiki_index.php?title=Policy:Bounty-Creation-and-Claims-Guidelines

The Bounty System is a new system added to TG that leverages TGSAP for its adjudicative function. As such, the work involved was quite extensive, touching nearly every aspect and service that the TG platform has in order to be fully integrated.

Members may notice that their TG profile pages have a Bounty Claims section as well as an additional user stat called “TG Achievements.”

The Bounty System can be accessed via the TOP menu where it says “BOUNTY” – from there you can select BOUNTY CHALLENGES to see all posted challenges, or CREATE BOUNTY CHALLENGE if you want to create a bounty yourself.

We believe that we have caught most of the bugs, but it not likely we eliminated them all. We definitely anticipate problems. Especially right when we activate this!

We need the community’s help to test/use the new bounty system to help us shake out any bugs or add/subtract/modify any feature that will help make the system more useable, attractive and productive.

We consider the system to be in beta, and not fully complete. Aside from squashing any found bugs, there are still a couple of things being worked on as we write this:

1.) A bounty creator rating function. (Think ebay seller review type of function.)

This will help members who use the bounty system to create bounties earn reputations for creating solid rules, fun challenges, and delivering promised rewards within the set expectations – and that reputation (creator stats) can be presented with any bounty they create on the details pages.

2.) Infinite Scroll – Right now, the bounty listing is set up for paging, however we also want to add the ability to simply keep scrolling down infinitely to see all the bounties that are listed.

Again this is just a beta version of the system, so there will be bugs! If you happen to find a bug please report it to us in this thread or by using the REPORT ERROR option in the drop down menu of SITE INFO on the top menu bar.

We have placed some example/instructive bounties in the bounty challenges section. Please take some time to read about each different bounty type, so that you can be as informed as possible before attempting to create your own bounties.

While we are in beta, we are requiring a minimum of 1500 CR in order to be able to create bounties. We do not want new users to be able to create bounties until we feel comfortable that the system is stable and relatively bug-free. When we reach that point, the minimum CR required will be lowered to 950.

Bounties are essentially new TRACKS, so they cost 10 SP to create one.
Submitting to a bounty is the same as submitting to a normal TRACK so it costs 3 SP.

We hope that the community enjoys this new addition to the TG platform and appreciate any feedback that may be provided over time. It will be very exciting to see how the creative use of this unique tool can provide more fun, recognition and achievement for video game players around the world!

This is very exciting, can't wait to create my first bounty.

Sadly, I don't have the required 1500 points required.

@TWIN GALAXIES either mis posted or set the wrong numbers in the system.

I guess JJT is in charge of bounties now.

When our engineers wake up from their long hours yesterday, they will take a look at the code that’s governing access based on CR. It’s very possible that there is an error there. We were always testing with administrative accounts. @admin staff

Also I will lower the CR required to 1100. If that is too low and we start getting a bunch undesired activity during the beta, we can raise it a bit as needed.

The issue is fixed please try creating a bounty and confirm.

We have reduced the CR required to 1100.

My first go through was very easy!

Positives:

- multiple platforms allowed! (big thank you!!)

- video upload

- clear guidelines

Negatives:

- none so far!

Question. There is now a bounty on a Game Boy game as Ben has initiated.. When that score is achieved and submitted under the bounty system that score will ONLY appear on the scoreboards for the Bounty platform, or will it also appear under the Game Boy platform, or do you have to make a completely separate regular non bounty submission for it to show on the Game Boy platform?

I added a comment to that bounty that I hope provides the information you are looking for.

The bounty system is a stand alone system. It is not tied to world record tracks or anything like that. The bounty system can be applied to almost anything.

The basic way it works is:

You specify a challenge.

A bounty claimant meets that challenge and has to provide ALL the proof they have that they met it.

The proof that is provided is packaged and placed into TGSAP for the normal voting process. That process will simply look at the rules provided by the bounty creator, and the evidence provided by the bounty claimant, and then determine if the bounty claimant met all the criteria.

If the evidence provided meets that criteria, the bounty claim will get approved, and then the bounty system will know to auto-pay out the submission points to the claimant.

---

So given the above context, if someone wants to put a bounty on a track position, like "You must be number 1 on THIS leaderboard by Friday", they can set that task - but that means that the bounty claimant needs to go do whatever they need to do to meet that criteria, and then come back and submit a bounty claim (on the bounty itself) showing all the PROOF that they are now number 1.

The bounty claim submission then needs to go to TGSAP separately and be evaluated to determine if that proof is sufficient to award the claim.

In the case of a track target goal, it's pretty easy. The bounty claimant just needs to show the link to their number 1 position on that track as their evidence. And when that claim is submitted, all the voters can just go check the link to verify that indeed they are number 1. Then they can vote to approve and the claim is awarded.

I hope that made sense.

This also may help people better understand the BOUNTY SYSTEM.

Every bounty you create IS A LEADERBOARD.

Meaning, every bounty is a TRACK.

When people submit to a bounty, people are submitting to THAT TRACK.

As a bounty creator, you are setting the rules of the track in your bounty description!

So all a bounty really is, is a TOTAL CUSTOM VERSION OF A TRACK. One where you not only set the rules, but can reward top performance.

The big difference between a BOUNTY TRACK and normal TG TRACK is that BOUNTY TRACKS are not considered to contain WORLD RECORDS or anything like that. They are considered separate. BOUNTY TRACKS can also be about nearly anything, not just video games. TG TRACKS are specifically limited to electronic gaming.

If there happens to be a score on a bounty track that IS world record level, then the person who achieved that score performance would need to separately submit it to the appropriate TG TRACK in order to be recognized in that way.

Jace bounty tracks have to be only video games under current design

I tried making a silly bounty but platform and game are required so I can’t even make cross platform bounties

Created my first bounty. Generally the process seems painless. Some points I feel could be improved:

There's no mention of Tags in the wiki article at https://www.twingalaxies.com/wiki_index.php?title=Policy:Bounty-Creation-and-Claims-Guidelines& so there's a whole page of the creation process which is not explained anywhere I found.

I was expecting the Street Fighter Alpha 2 to be in the game selector so entering tags doesn't seem to be taking data from the scoreboard. If the platform+game combination is on the scoreboard, the genre tags from the scoreboard could be offered as default tags (I realise genre tags could be far more generalised for bounties than games so some bounty genres wouldn't make sense for appearing in the games tags on the scoreboard).

This bit really needs more emphasis - perhaps even a tick box and pop-up alert acknowledge!

Important - When creating a bounty, you must define and propose a task or objective that can be factually, definitively and quantitatively measured in relation to your specific bounty's posted ruleset. If the objective and rules are not clear and defined it may become impossible for the TGSAP adjudicators reviewing the claim submissions to authenticate bounty claims for your bounty.

Failure to provide enough rule clarity may result in administrative deletion of your bounty - AND THERE ARE NO REFUNDS!

For the Bounty Page listing all the bounties, the link to the wiki from the top of the Bounty page goes to the general guidelines and not the bounty-specific page. Feels like both should be emphasised there.

There are no restrictions on genre / platform / game so you can type whatever. It’s not like you have to select from a pre-loaded list

Platform = Atari + Colecovision + Commodore64 (just enter that all at once)

Game = Pitfall (or some game released on all consoles) OR (separate games for each platform like a triathlon)

include in the description like “score a top three on Atari Pitfall according to track rules here then score a top three on Colecovision Adventure then score a top three on C64 Rushn Attack and submit all three videos here”

or

“Submit this list of score thresholds to TGSAP and once accepted submit bounty claim with links to accepted submissions”

And so on. I’m brainstorming an NES triathlon bounty right now. All my bounties will depend on getting scores accepted via TGSAP but that’s just me.

I don’t know if it’s been said yet but you shouldn’t be able to claim your own bounty.

ah i didnt appreciate, that while required, its also freeform, thx

This is the perfect place for completion tracks that don’t rank well under the traditional leaderboard system.

Think about the effort/reward in your bounties.

i.e. spending 2 weeks to achieve 10 submission points is not really incentive, spending a few hours is.
