Rules are supposed to be clear and up to date.

Not my job. That's TG's history job & policy of never amending rules - only clarification.

I agree. Don't do it. Let the players figure it out.

Updating DIP switch labels is clarification, and not amendment.

Anyone who wishes to use a MAME version with outdated DIP labels can play a few test games, to make sure the DIP switches are set correctly. Most likely, a single test would be sufficient, since the vast majority of settings are default. No one should have a complaint about such a simple task. Bloating the rules by including every label which has ever existed for every DIP switch makes no sense.

you can comment on tracks themselves now. and so far people have been good at not abusing that privledge. i think the track thread would be a fine place for that info, not the rules. additionaly since none of us have accesss to edit rules but we do have access to comment on track specific threads its a move any of you can immediately take

As far as I've seen, nobody's used that setting. This is the marathon track we're talking about, everybody plays for as many bonus ships as they can get.

The VCS/2600 section of TG's database is littered with pirate versions and hacks. Before the use of flash carts and SIO-to-PC devices, it might have been difficult to obtain a copy of an original game, especially if it was on cassette or floppy disk. And at this point, both the media and the drives (cassette and disk) to read them are around 40 years old. So I not only understand the need for newer devices, I use them myself. But it's also easier now to obtain copies of software, particularly the original versions. So there's really no excuse for not using the original versions. Between Atarimania (the largest Atari software database) and Atariage (with the most active forum for Atari users), one should be able to track down an original copy of most every game (either digital or physical).

Much like all the pirate cartridges that were released for the VCS (at a ratio of something like 8 pirate carts for every 1 original), there are multiple pirate versions of some Atari computer games. And the differences aren't always as simple as someone hacking their name onto a title screen. So if TG is going to accept pirate versions, they'll have to have a separate track for each version. It's the same problem with tracking prototype versions, which TG also does. For example, there are at least 4 different versions of VCS Xevious, with the latest being found in 2015. But of the 3 scores currently in the database, none of them used the latest version, and there's nothing in the rules stating which version should be used.

The easiest solution would be for TG to adopt a policy that only officially released games are to be tracked, otherwise this is one dog that's going to chase its tail forever.

To follow up Scott's point and the specific example of Space Dungeon, I am posting a link where the issue of tracking the Space Dungeon copy on the Atari XL/XE was discussed/debated. The discussion might have migrated to the private Referee forum judging from how the thread ended. I was curious if TG admin could search the Referee forum to see if there was an explicit decision one way or the other.

Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness for the Nintendo 64 has two tracks set up incorrectly.

Creature Feature has the submission page set up for a time entry, when it should be corrected to allow score submissions

https://www.twingalaxies.com/easysubmit.php?variation_id=38168

Pac Crackle Pop has the slower time ranked higher, when it should be reversed to more time being better.

Request: reactivate this dispute, due to wrong decision by admin.

The record under dispute has an INP of another game attached. The link to the correct INP is defunct. My latest post in the dispute's thread mentions these facts, but has been ignored by admin.

There is no question that the dispute is valid, so admin's decision ought to be reversed.

Can the following be added to the Galaga MAME tournament track:

"Special Rules: Attempts for this variation may be done on Marathon Settings, but once you've lost your 4th Life, you may not allow your ship to be captured or your Tournament Score attempt ends immediately."

This special rule comes from the Galaga Arcade tournament track and there's already at least one submission on the MAME platform was submitted using marathon settings.

Thanks!

Hi Team can we correct?

This Track is incorrectly Titled as Game 7, Should be Game 1

https://www.twingalaxies.com/game/surfers-paradise/atari-2600-vcs

The Game only has 4 Game Selections So NO GAME 7 exsists, in addition to this the scores refelect Game 1 as it is a tough title.

Here are some tracks to fix (thanks in advance).

1) Christmas Carol vs. The Ghost of Christmas Presents https://www.twingalaxies.com/game/christmas-carol-vs-the-ghost-of-christmas-presents/intellivision
As I said in a comment when I proposed the track, I noticed that the first part of the rules is wrong because further versions of the game were actually released. Anyway, the gameplay is always the same. Please change the rules in the following way: «The recording may come from any known release of the game. There are no settings for the player to select, therefore no specific rules apply».

2) Bomb Jack II https://www.twingalaxies.com/game/bo...ii/amstrad-cpc The cover is from Bomb Jack (the first episode), sorry, my bad (but it seems I can't fix this by myself). Please upload a proper Bomb Jack II cover

3) Mr. Puniverse https://www.twingalaxies.com/game/mr-puniverse/commodore-plus-4-c16-c116
Since there's no score in this game, tracks should be changed from «Points» to «Fastest completion». The score type field should be changed from «Points integer» to «Elapsed time» (Ranking method: «Lowest is the best»).

Please also add to the rules the following lines: «The game ends when you collect your 25th vitamin. Beware! If you're playing the older version of the game, once collected the real last vitamin, the program "stucks" into an endless loop of flashing background, never reaching the final "game over" printed on the black screen».

I have a question about the Anteater track for the Atari 400/800:

https://www.twingalaxies.com/game/anteater/atari-400-800-xl-xe

I can't find a copy of this game anywhere online and it's not in the HomeSoft collection. I'm wondering if this is actually for Ant Eater (by Romox) which is a different game (and not based on the Anteater arcade version).

One last request. Divine Sealing https://www.twingalaxies.com/game/divine-sealing/sega-genesis-sega-mega-drive

Rules say: «Autofire is not allowed». Since the player actually can use autofire just by keeping the fire button pressed (so it should be legit, since it's part of the game) that could create confusion. Hence please just remove that line. Thanks again!

@admin staff

Please fix the following tracks:

https://www.twingalaxies.com/game/breakout/atari-2600-vcs/pal-game-7-difficulty-b-points/page/1?ref=fbshare

There are no points in this variation. It is a timed game (speedrun) where lower is better and measured in "seconds".

It should read "PAL - Game 7B - Fastest completion (seconds)", and the rank method should be lowest is best if it isnt already that way. The rules should have added, "Time submitted must be the time shown when the last brick is struck."

Same thing on this track:

https://www.twingalaxies.com/game/breakout/atari-2600-vcs/pal-game-5-difficulty-b-points/page/1?ref=fbshare

which should read, "PAL - Game 5B - Fastest completion (seconds)" with the same rule clarification as the 7B track.
