The old TG (my era was 2004-2010 as a referee) very rarely accepted anything Japanese and almost certainly did not accept Super Famicom as a result. The rules will very likely have been created by Kelly Flewin, who created most of the tracks attributed to "Twin Galaxies" for the NES & SNES tracks (but certainly not all of them) - the style of using "Special Rules" pretty much began with Kelly Flewin and his first two major projects were NES & SNES. The difference in text speed (the speed at which the player can get through the blocks of text interaction - not the speed at which any individual element is displayed) used in Japanese vs. English dialogue would have been sufficient to deem these two games as separate trackable items also for speed run purposes.

In the style of the TG that created this track I would have to say that Rockman X should not be submitted to a Mega Man X track.
I don't disagree with this idea in principle for the reasons outlined, but in fairness the track is labeled SNES/SFC, implying a Super Famicon Cartridge would be acceptable. I agree that clarification would be needed in the future.
Just splitting these up as the final paragraph isn't mine but the original submitter (Jacob). I PM'd Jacob explaining that the "SFC" portion wasn't there 6 months ago. It's another example that the modern TG has attempted to be all-encompassing but just causes more confusion.

Everything SNES-related is a can of worms TG Research is desperate to open up. We will get to it soon, but not before Intellivision. If someone wants to start an 'All SNES Issues' wall thread, in which some of these older requests and issues can be gathered, that will help enormously. @Intellivision Master is hopefully going to do the same for Intellivision issues but it turns out he has been too busy playing video games (of all things).

Who could have predicted that?

This is what I have noticed about this issue

If the NTSC version and the PAL versions have different names, they are separate game entries:
Ninja Turtles: https://www.twingalaxies.com/game/te...ainment-system
Hero Turtles: https://www.twingalaxies.com/game/te...ainment-system

If the NTSC version and the PAL version have the same names, they are a single game entry:
Sonic the Hedgehog: https://www.twingalaxies.com/game/so...ega-mega-drive

If the NTSC-US version and the NTSC-JP version have different names, they are a single game entry:
Puzzle Bobble 2 / Bust A Move Again: https://www.twingalaxies.com/game/pu...eo/nintendo-64

NES, SNES, GEN, and TG16 are (I think) the only consoles that have different names across different regions.

NES, SNES, GEN have their US and Japanese or European names grouped as one platform, whereas TG16 / PCE are separated in to two different platforms.

The PCE platform has cartridge and CD games lumped together, whereas TG16 and Turbo CD are two separate platforms.

Game and track to be deleted: https://www.twingalaxies.com/game/gu...-me/speed-runs . It was created after seeking consent of Jace Hall to see how much I could butcher the track creation process. Turned out it was more severely broken at the time than I first thought and anyone having created a track could create any other track anywhere else with any changes (including changing the game title and who was assigned as the creator, for example - this test provided the proof of that).

Game and all tracks to be deleted: https://www.twingalaxies.com/game/gu...ive/speed-runs
This was caused by user error (me) accidentally not changing the default platform when originally created. As the first track in this speed runs category was created before the actual intended platform, it appears in my track derivatives first and I kept making mistakes... All the tracks are point-scored and that makes no sense for a speed runs set of tracks.

I'm a little jealous here... as a someone do does software test, and especially enjoys trying to break things, it would be fun to have a chance to see what kind of broken things I could find with new track and score submissions!

Twin Galaxy Members Can Clearly See The Evidence In My Reply 16

Their Strong Evidence that their was Leeching. In My Previous Reply their a Few More Instances.

1. Their is No Timer
2. Yes, Ryan Did in Fact Go Back Same Area Killing the Same Enemies & in the Same Area In My Previous My Reply 16 their a Few More Instances in the Video.

Question
1. Is This Allowed For This Game to Gain More Points I know in Some Video Game Submissions they were Allowed a Lot of Latitude in Gaining More Points is this one of them?

If Not Then it is Clearly LEECHING then would be REJECTED Voted NO by Twin Galaxy Members

2. Let's Ask @Dave Hawksett, @ Admin Staff to Make a Final Ruling on this.
Sega Genesis / Sega Mega Drive - Shadow of the Beast - NTSC - Points - 13,150 - Ryan Genno
https://www.twingalaxies.com/newrepl...5167&noquote=1

https://www.twingalaxies.com/help.php

Term - "Leeching" is also referred to as "hunting" and "point scrabbing"
by both Twin Galaxies and members of the gaming Community "A means by which a player accumulates additional points in game while engaging in activities that do not contribute to progressing to the next stage, screen or level, and while such activities are engaged, a player is not inhibited to progressing to the next stage, screen or level during commission of said activities. In general, a player should always be making a meaningful or conservative attempt towards progression within the generally accepted intended spirit and direction of the game."

The rules that follow governing leeching/hunting/point-scrabbing shall apply universally to all arcade, home console, emulation, hand-held, mobile and PC-based gameplay efforts.

SECTION 2.0 - GENERAL GUIDELINES

2.0.a - Adjudicators shall determine via it's collective experience whether any tactic(s), leeching or otherwise, either defeat the generally accepted understanding of the spirit of the game or take advantage of known or unknown programming glitches, and whether said tactic(s) should be banned. Thus, gameplay records using banned tactics shall not be recognized by Twin Galaxiesfor inclusion in its scoreboard.

2.0.b - Rule 2.0.a, although applicable to all gameplay efforts, may be applied differently to team-play efforts at the discretion of the Twin Galaxies Adjudicating Community when it has been determined through their collective experience that tactic(s) only possible during team-play efforts yield unfairly accumulated points not otherwise possible during single-play, and which in addition do not contribute to a meaningful or conservative attempt towards progression within the generally accepted understanding of the intended spirit and direction of the game.

2.0.c - Twin Galaxies recognizes that game titles which have a count-down time limit, hidden or otherwise, should allow a player the opportunity to maximize their score productivity within the limited time limit available, providing the tactic(s) employed by the player are not deemed banned by the track variation rules. Therefore, tactics that are not deemed banned by the specific track variation rules are allowable within the time limit constraints of normal gameplay for such titles.

2.0.d - Twin Galaxies recognizes that there may be game titles which, based on the collective experience of the Adjudicating Community, contain program glitches or flaws that affect the counter of extra lives, weaponry, shields, health units, or other game-affecting attributes, which contribute to continuance of the gameplay, and which defeat the generally accepted and understood original spirit of the game. In such cases, usage of the tactic(s) necessary to bring about such continuance shall be deemed illegal and banned under rules section 2.0.a.

SECTION 3.0 - SPECIFIC EXCEPTIONS 3.0.a - Twin Galaxies recognizes that there are game titles programmed so that continued longevity within a section/stage/area of a game results in progressively increasing speed, difficulty and challenge while remaining in the section/stage/area in question. The Adjudicating Community shall determine via its collective experience whether a game title or performance falls into this category. If so, then so long as tactic(s) employed by the player do not violate any rules contained within section 2.0 of the Twin Galaxies policy on leeching, then the player shall be allowed to pursue additional point-earning opportunities within said sections/stages/areas at their own risk.

3.0.b - Twin Galaxies recognizes that there are game titles programmed so that additional point-earning opportunities exist based on longevity within a stage, and the Adjudicating Community shall determine if continuance within the stage violates rule sections 1.0 or 2.0.a at their discretion and based on their collective experiences. Should the Adjudicating Community determine that continuance within a section/stage/area of a title does not violate either rule section, the player(s) may continue game play tactic(s) within that section for the purpose of additional point scoring.

@JJT_Defender, I don't think this is the best place to talk about the validity of score submissions. That is for the submission thread itself.

I have two more update requests for the Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 track rules. This impacts two recent derivative tracks. Thank @Ben_Way for making the previous updates. This is the best I can show you without any formatting features available in this forum.

Augusta National Par 3 - Default Settings - Some of the default values differ from the 18 hole full courses. @Rogerpoco discovered this after playing a practice round for the MOWE Masters Tournament. Here is how the rules should appear for this 9 hole par 3 course.

· Game Mode – Stroke Play

· Golfer – Player’s choice including use of a player created golfer

· Course – Selection must be the same as the track title

· Course Options (Default)
o Weather – Sunny
o Wind – Breezy
o Tee Select – Masters
o Hole Select – 1st Nine
o Flagstick Select – Thursday
o Tournament Atmosphere – On
o Course Conditions – Slow
o Second Cut Length – Medium (locked)
o Mulligan – Off
o Pro Challenge – None

· Restrictions and Limitations
o Entering any codes is prohibited
o Intentional or unintentional use of cheats or glitches to exploit the ‘normal’ rules of golf is prohibited
o Player created golfer is allowed to use any standard, sponsored, or prototype equipment, apparel, or accessory that is earned through career play.
o Player may choose to use or dismiss caddy’s advice
o Standard controller selection (joystick or motion) and swing mechanics are players choice.
o Scores from a multiplayer round is permitted so long as the other rules and restrictions are met.
