Pixie joined in December 2017-I get the cut-off date, but it's just sooo close, he's my Rookie of the Year choice, hands down.

I have to think on the others, but this one has been on my mind-I can't remember what specific award I was hoping for, lol, but I remember thinking that my Burgertime run was bad timing on receiving Peer Awards when I first started, and I just think, as far as scoreboard notoriety over the past year, Daniel certainly deserves the attention!

Prolific-JMB is the mainstay, the award could be named after him. IllSeaBass, Matt is also on that radar, as well as Pixie. I'm undecided.

John Marks has been playing a few different classic systems with good results-there isn't a category, but I would go with him as the "Comeback Player of the Year", if such was kept up with.

Gamer/MAME, Gamer/Console, Contributer and Performance I really need to think about.

    2018 Gamer of the Year - (Arcade/MAME)

I would have to say the same person I would choose for this every year -- John McCallister.
    2018 Gamer of the Year - (Consoles/PC)

Blank for now, will possibly edit after seeing othes comments

2018 Rookie of the Year - (Must be a new member in the year 2018, as per your profile page)

I echo rogers concerns. Daniel has done so much, its not his fault he happened to show up late in the calendar year. He didnt have time for a fair shot at it last year, under the circustances i urge flexibilty and agree with nominating him

2018 Prolific Gamer - ( Most creative, innovated, most entertaining submission videos to watch)

    Matthew Felix

2018 Contributor of the Year - ( A positive influence and growth to the community, via forum, blogs, adjudicating, etc.)

Stella_blue without his analysis we'd all be screwed.

2018 Performance of the Year - (On any specific game submission already accepted)

JasonV for his lock n chase. I know the adjudication led to other controversial topics, but his actual gameplay was well deserving of praise.

2018 Comeback Gamer of the Year - (a blast from the past, now currently active once again)

    I'll second John Marks

Thanks as always for the post Marc. A few are very easy for me and the others require more thought. Here are the easy ones:

    2018 Gamer of the Year - (Arcade/MAME)

JasonV91 - He dominates most any game he touches in extremely short order. He's submitted numerous gems over the course of 2018. Take a glance at his list of scores on his account and be amazed.

2018 Rookie of the Year - (Must be a new member in the year 2018, as per your profile page)

Daniel (Pixe). Hands down. Lot's of everything coming from Daniel.

Honorable mention to Brandon Lee Kelly (speedy47591) who very quietly has amassed a hefty amount of scores since joining in Feb. Most notably to me, he relentlessly hammers away at the FX3 tables. His persistence in playing and defending scores on these table is admirable.

2018 Contributor of the Year - ( A positive influence and growth to the community, via forum, blogs, adjudicating, etc.)

OOO (Paul Hornitzky) - unwavering in his enthusiasm, Paul very positively promotes and runs the largest ongoing online mame/arcade tournament aka the MGL. He truly emphasizes the players first, while simultaneously promoting TG and The Aussie Arcade. Paul constantly and sincerely motivates everyone he encounters. Each and every tournament he runs is always great, then he somehow out does the previous tournament year after year. If everything I like about gaming, natural community building and contests could be packaged and sold on a shelf, it would surely have OOO stamped on the side.

2018 Performance of the Year - (On any specific game submission already accepted)

Robbie Lakeman: 1,247,700 DK Arcade. This is an insane score. Pure dedication here. This is high end score chasing at it's best.

Its dan. After a bout of meningitis several years ago, a doctor recommended I start playing match 3 games. He thought the pattern recognition would help rewire my brain, so I have a big soft spot for games like candy crush. Also, I think we cant ignore a game with 3 billion downloads in the last 5 years, so I have my reasons for submitting so many scores in that area, but I have no problem admitting there are games out there, several of which Daniel has played that require more skill. Also, if you've seen his interview with snowflake, you can tell that this has been a lifelong passion for him. Me, I only started gaming seriously in the last year, so I think that is another point in his favor. This aint the place to tell the story of why I joined TG, but lets just say I desperately want to squeeze something positive out of the circumstances that led me here, so the fact that you'd even mention me means that I am handling myself in the right way, and I very much appreciate the reinforcement, but that award is Daniel's.

Just made sense-I know you from direct competition, but Snow knows more than me about the history of TG, I'm sure, and your(extensive!)past here.

I would probably lose a friend or two if I dropped some names from the past that I would LOVE to compete with head-to-head, lol, not spite, but to play against some of the best, so anytime someone decides to "come back" to TG, it's a Win.

Sorry, Marc, I know you are kinda looking for definitive statements here, and this isn't one, but would be remiss not to throw out there that the 32.72 seconds of madness that Clay came up with happened this calendar year, just early. Is on my consideration list for Performance.

the history i know of TG sometimes rightfully comes under question. i wasnt there for it, and context can be key, i have however dug deep through the forums reading all i can. Its very hard to imagine how somethings could be taken out of context especially when we're dealing with a long repeating conversatoin, but anything is possible.

didnt mean to derail, but i was complimented and i need to be careful not to accepta compliment i might not fully deserve -- but thank you for it.

2018 Contributer of the Year- I would nominate Ben Sweeney because when i first joined TG in april, the track i originally wanted to set a record for, didn't even exist. (Soul Edge ver. II Mame). He basically created the track with his own sp just because i wanted it! He also created a very informative blog on recording gameplay in wolfmame, since at the time i knew nothing about wolfmame and inp recordings which was extremely helpful.

Just a quick update with some news I quietly had in the works...

I conversed with Walter Day earlier today. He wishes to honor all of the category award winners with their own trading cards!

Thanks for keeping this blog active, my fellow peers...Keep on voting !

(Disclaimer... Walter Day's projects has no affiliation to TG, and vice versa)

2018 Gamer of the Year (Arcade/Mame) - I nominate Dave Mitchell (Mitch Mitchell) for his arcade vs. duck hunt score. (3,502,900.)
