This was sent to me by a TG Member and I thought I would post it:

"The enclosed is from the sports/non-sports trading card periodical "Sports Marketing Reseach", a publication of PSA ("Professional Sports Authority").

The words definitely apply to the modern generation of gamers who have taken over the modern TG forum with their views and agenda.

If you read the first half of the article you will quickly see that there are lessons lost on today's TG gaming community."

I don't think this is a modern thing. How many generations have said to their children "your music sucks!" only for those children to grow up and say the same thing to the next generation?

Respect is a fickle mistress. It is earned for sure not given by default. Trust is easily lost. We all have filters on that we see the world through. I have seen so much corruption and collusion from former TG members that I am getting quite jaded when it comes to pre-tgsap records.

No it is not lost on today's community. Today's community is just more cautious on actually giving respect. Giving respect is something you have to work hard to earn and when you see the past you understand why the list is longer on ways to lose respect compared to gaining it. I blame the times.

whats really interesting is how the old decrepid men before us didnt care about the men before them and now complain karma has come full circle. Remember the vast amounts of scores they removed? the revamping of rules? the disrespect towards walter not to mention the antics and harassment they gave to pioneers like roy. Hey while we're at it, lets really respect histroy, lets bring back that 6 billion point marathon score on star wars arcade. oh what you say? you just want your mistakes respected, yet you dont want to respect the mistakes from before you?

typical entitled spoiled brat boomer mindset

Hey I'm an avid sports fan mostly baseball. I read this article and while I get the intention is good it's overall a bad analogy. There is things to respect in the past for sure but there is also things that a lot of sports including baseball would like everyone to forget. There is a lot of players that I respect that were in the steroid era of baseball but do I have respect for that era and the records broken during then? Mostly no. Even the whole organization of baseball snubs known or suspected players that took steroids from the hall of fame every year.

Every form of sports has had their scandals in the past but if you look at TG as a whole in the past you would see that it was a collection of bad scandals. Basketball had corrupt refs in the early 2000s that even landed people in federal prison. Baseball had a whole era where the organization itself turned a blind eye to cheating. Baseball again had another era where owners would collude against players in free agency. So corruption, cheating, and collusion. Three things that TG was known for in the past.

To quote the article "The past isn't perfect, but neither is the present." While I do agree with that general sentiment about sports and TG I will say both sports and TG have come a long way and things are far better now than they were in the past.

dude even look at this post? the person wanting to share it has such a habit of going into hiding and having others do their work for him he couldnt even share an article himself and had jace do it for him. Dont worry when the rodrigo dispute is over i'm sure he'll come out of hiding again.

Sorry, but I dont speak English (AKA BS) that well.

Please elaborate, in a full transparent web-site, on exactly WHO is playing your messenger (as a "so-called member") behind the scenes, that has no balls to post it himself) because he HIMSELF is a coward, and demands the respect (that he will never get from those that know his REAL HISTORY)

Does that make sense to you?

For the record, I believe Shoeless Joe Jackson. I don't believe Hairless Joe Jackmovich though.

Am I the only one who sees the irony of the last sentence of the article? "Never get cheated".

I think people respect the mistakes of the past. Walter Day made a lot of them but I and everyone I know still respects the hell out the guy. But what people will never respect is lying and cheating. Especially when theny continue to lie even after they were caught cheating. It's this way for every sport and every hobby that I can think of. No one respects a cheater. And that includes all those guys in the 80's and 90's who were cheating in the trading card hobby as they were literally robbing people of money. I don't know a single person who disrespects the past because of mistakes. We all make them. The only part of the article that even makes sense to me is the last sentence.
