Got this in an e-mail and thought I would pass it along....

Hey there,

Nick Dwyer here from the Diggin’ In The Carts project, which was, as you may remember, a documentary series about the history of Japanese video game music and it’s influence on contemporary music. Over the years the project grew into a radio series on (the now sadly defunct) RBMA Radio, a compilation release on UK label Hyperdub and a world tour where we took a number of legendary Japanese video game composers to perform at some of the world’s most renowned venues and festival stages.

The reason for my email is, I’ve been working on a new Japanese VGM related project that I thought I would send you and that may be of some interest.

For the past year notable Parisian club DJ (and Japanese video game music fan) Teki Latex and I have been working on this mixtape project which will finally be coming out March 2nd. The world’s first "mixtape as side-scrolling adventure" is the theme and we’ve spent a long time delving deep into the archives of Japanese video game music to present a mix that will hopefully satisfy both club music fans and video game music fans and I guess introduce each of those audiences to a whole new thing. We have received exclusive remixes and vocals from a number of notable electronic music artists especially for the mix. We also spent a bit of time getting the artwork right as we wanted to do a proper tribute to all our favourite late 80s / early 90s Japanese box art which is attached.

Have attached the press pack and all the artwork and the link to the mini-site is below. Would love to get your thoughts on it and if you think it’s worthy of a news release or something deeper! More than anything though I just wanted you to hear it because i think you might dig it! (pun intended)

It’s available for free stream and download now on teknic.mx

Thanks for your time!

Nick Dwyer

5 years ago I was working as a data architect at a huge law firm specializing in intellectual property and trademark law (huge clients including all the big tech companies). Their lead programmer was listening to "chip tunes" and I could not understand how somebody could listen to that all day long.

Now here I am with a Spotify pro account and am adding to my chiptunes playlists every day.

Thank you very much for this link Jace, can't wait to try it out.
