Twin Galaxies is a place that should be for everyone in gaming. It should be safe and welcoming.

While Twin Galaxies will absolutely continue to strongly enforce its policies that concern acceptable behavior on the site, the onus is also on all of us individually to continue to strive toward building the most inclusive and safest community we can.

We must continue to not tolerate or encourage poor behavior - and we must continue to pay attention to any warning signs that we may see so that we can take proactive action wherever reasonably possible.

As we all know, the vast majority of the significant challenges that Twin Galaxies has had to recently face stem from the past decisions made by previous ownership eras - and the new TG today must unfortunately endure, own and address those various cancerous issues. It is not fun, can be quite expensive, and in many cases brings unjustified direct attacks on myself personally.

In that regard, many of you know that our ongoing efforts to clean up, restore, and stand up for Twin Galaxies in the face of bullying and intimidation placed me directly on Mr. Ferretti's hit list and perhaps other people's hit lists who may seek to assassinate me or my character for daring to do so. These people may tell lies, or exaggerate, or attempt to use things out of context to achieve their means. However, should you ever come across this stuff, you can easily check its validity by simply inquiring if I was directly asked about the item by the person making the claim. If I wasn't asked then you may want to consider that fact - because as many of you already know I will happily answer any direct inquiry truthfully. I (and Twin Galaxies) have nothing to hide, and there is no secret agenda.

In light of this, please always understand, there is no excuse for anyone to not reach out directly to me to get information on any Twin Galaxies matter. I believe in transparency. If someone doesn't reach out to me for a direct answer, or for a fact confirmation check, THERE IS A REASON.

Anyway, despite all this, I continue to invest (and I believe we all continue to invest) into Twin Galaxies because I (we) believe in its ultimate potential to provide positive value, recognition, and potential opportunity for people who participate in the activity of playing video games.

Twin Galaxies is worth it. We all collectively make it worth it.

Twin Galaxies today still needs to make progress but it is vastly improved from its former iterations. The community has moved forward, the competition has moved forward, the database is cleaner and more scores than ever are being adjudicated and recognized. This is a testament to the efforts that everyone has made here. We have all grown and learned so much and many are sharing their insights for the positive benefit of everyone else.

The Ferretti situation is tragic. Period. We grieve for AMY MOLTER and her loved ones. We also grieve for Mr. Ferretti's family who has also suffered loss. It's just all bad, and at the very minimum we may want to give serious thought in recognizing this terrible thing and see if there is anything we can learn from the experience to perhaps find ways to improve and be better where needed and if possible.

Thank you. Wishing all safety and health in these challenging times.

-Jace

@Jace Hall Can you please comment on the 5 or 6 rules posts that were put on the forum briefly and then deleted. I'm particularly interested in the rule where if someone contacts another person offsite they could lose all their submission points and get a six month ban. Please provide a example of what would be considered ban worthy.

Jace, Has it truly changed for the better? Perhaps it has for some but not for others. I come back here after a long time absent in T.G and my wall post gets deleted with no warning first to revise it. Hate is still present here, just in a more quieter form and will be more evident in the future.

Ferretti is gone but not his friends.

I understand what you are saying. It HAS changed for the better, but the adjustment takes time to fully settle in of course.

I am aware of your post deletion, and hopefully it was explained to you what aspects of your post were problematic.

You could not receive a warning first to revise it because there was no way of knowing when you might receive the warning message, or when you may revise it. In the meanwhile, your post would have remained visible which was not possible so it had to be removed.

We I hope you understand and are very glad to have you return to the community!

I can speak from my own time on the Twin Galaxies staff that there's literally no way to do things that will be considered "right" or "better" to everyone. TG draws a lot of passionate people who have different ideas about what it is, what it was and what it could be. Some of them are misdirected or misinformed about what it was, what it is and what it could be... or disagree about what's best.

I cannot directly attest to what it's been like fully under Jace's stead, but I do agree that in my opinion the pre-Jace eras were never managed properly at the top. I will add that vast majority of the staff during my time at TG were good people dedicated to fair play. It is unfortunate that most of them are not remembered for their positive contributions and it's also unfortunate that there was tension created when Pete's vision did not line up with many of them. Given how it ended with me and Pete, if I could go back and push for his agenda again... I wouldn't have.

Jace speaks of transparency. And honestly that's what's been lacking here for ages. I can cite numerous active members here who have claimed a lot of things about me and those I worked with during my time here that have no merit. Some of them are so far from what actually took place that they would reside in the Fiction section at Barnes & Noble.

All of those things are due to indirect communications.. stuff badly filtered through third and fourth parties at best or simply fabricated and never fact checked at worst. I've stated for years that anyone with questions was free to ask me directly but I can count the number of people who've ever done so on one hand with fingers to spare. They seem(ed) more interested in talking about me from afar without ever wishing to fact check or at least get another side to the story before passing judgement.

It seems that Jace has learned that the hard way over time. I'm sure he remembers me telling him that there are many here who will do that and it seems he had to learn about that more directly. And that even applies to me and him... as it seems we both got told things about the other one second-third-fourth hand and judged the other based on the context added by those indirect messengers.

To be blunt, the person I feel was the catalyst for the majority of misinformation here is now gone. It's time for everyone.. including myself and Jace and all of you reading this... to do better. If you aren't addressing points of contention or questions to someone directly then you aren't doing it right... and that behavior will never allow this place to truly be what it can be. It's what has always held it back in my opinion.

I applaud Jace's desire to hold people more accountable for this sort of thing here. I wish it had been done sooner, but that's irrelevant now.

I honestly don't trust anyone that has been bad mouthing TG while most members here have been doing their best to make this place better since TGSAP was introduced. There is a reason Pat is blocked on Facebook along with Tim, Cat, and others.

While we were on the front lines getting heated, having huge fights, learning from our mistakes and decisions, and even making good friends along the way.. some others just sat in their soap box being all around negative nancies (cue the BACK IN MY DAY bit). I was honestly hoping people with this kind of "i'm better than you at everything, kid" would have stayed away. I won't fall for his poisoned words but I'm always going to fight for the reason TG exists.

It really sucks though, everyone is afraid to say anything these days because they believe Franny is on some power trip to ban anyone she thinks is causing problems when she really isn't and that is no way to live. Rumors abound that Jace needs PSP more than ever because of the Billy case so PSP is untouchable and invaluable and honestly, I don't believe a word of it.. unless someone needs a scapegoat.

I just hope new members on the site don't get the wrong idea about things and hopefully figure out what the site is for based on their own judgement.

P.S. Learn to use the ignore button, it helps.. though I believe the ignore button should do more than its current state. Still, my list is growing more now that folks are crawling out of the woodwork.
