The storied PC battle royale game H1Z1 will be making its way to the Playstation 4 in the very near future.

Today, Daybreak Games announced that H1Z1 is coming to the Playstation 4 (PS4) as a free to play title. The PS4 version of the battle royale title has been revamped for the console and will feature a new weapon progression system, a fully reworked user interface and new weapons and gear for players to enjoy.

"H1Z1 on PS4 is true battle royale mayhem. We have reimagined the game for Playstation 4 and have designed it to accentuate the essentials of battle royale that make the genre so exciting to watch and play," said H1Z1 Producer Terrence Yee. "We have added key gameplay differentiators to keep the game frantic and fun, an action shooter's dream of fast-paced battle royale."

A new control scheme has been implemented for the PS4 version of H1Z1, as the title will feature a grab-and-go equipment system. The goal of this change is to simplify loot collection and inventory management. Another part of the new control scheme is a radial weapon menu that will allow players to quickly switch between weapons and grenades and a revamped HUD that promises to deliver important information to players with a single glance. H1Z1's crafting has also been removed for the console version of the game.

Daybreak Games has also made changes to the title's gameplay progression mechanics, which include altering the game's gas pacing to speed up gameplay and a revamped airdrop system that will encourage players to keep moving and invested in fights.

At the beginning of matches, PS4 players will only have access to six level one weapons and must pursue the mass airdrops that will be scattered through each map to secure higher level weapons and armor. The armor that players will be able to secure from the airdrops has been retooled to provide a health bonus, while the higher level weapons will include the new KH43, Maruader, Combat Shotgun, CNQ-09, Scout Rifle and MK46.

PS4 players will be treated to a H1Z1 title specifically designed for optimal performance on the console.

Airdrops will be the main avenue for players to acquire higher level gear. However, there will also be special crates hidden throughout the map that will contain level 2 and level 3 weapons and gear. These crates will emit a low radio chatter and signal beacon to alert players who are in close proximity.

H1Z1 has been fully optimized for the PS4 and will be running at 60 frames per second on the PS4 Pro console. The title's first Closed Beta weekend will be taking place this month and players can sign up to participate on the game's official website. Beginning on April 24 and continuing through May 22, players will have the chance to preorder a H1Z1 bundle that will reward them with unique in-game items for the PS4 version that will be available for use at the beginning of the Closed Beta. In addition to the in-game items, players who preorder the bundle will recieve a dynamic theme, while Playstation Plus members will be granted a 20% discount on their bundle purchase.
