In a surprising announcement that many members of the gaming community believe to be a very late April Fools joke, FaZe Clan revealed that it had released Thomas "72hrs" Mulligan from their competitive Fortnite Battle Royale team and had added well known YouTuber Bryan "RiceGum" Le to fill the empty roster spot as FaZe FORTGUM.
While RiceGum is not particulary known for his high skill level in Fortnite, he is easily one of the most popular content creators who focus on the popular battle royale title, and his addition will no doubt bring a large amount of attention to FaZe Clan's Fortnite team. RiceGum will join the three remaining members from original roster in Dennis "Cloak" Lepore, Thang "SpaceLyon" Phan and Brendan "Jaomock" O'Brien.
Even though the announcement is not being taken very seriously by the community, RiceGum and his teammates are pushing the news through their social platforms, as the YouTuber posted a video on his channel explaining his move to the team, while Spacelyon posted a photo on Twitter showing off the newly assembled roster.
With the esports scene of Fortnite looking to takeoff after the success of Tyler "Ninja" belvin's Ninja Vegas '18 event and the multi-million dollar investment into development of the competitive scene by Epic Games' parent company Tencent, RiceGum and FaZe Clan will no doubt have plenty of chances to show why the organization decided to make the out of the blue change to their seemingly set in concrete roster, as Fortnite continues to grow into a competitor in the esports industry.
