Season 4 has brought a bunch of changes along with the enormous meteor, but one that you may have missed is that the crossbow can no longer be found in-game, and sprays have been added so you can mark your territory.

Amidst the meteor crashing down and superhero skins being released in Fortnite, a few smaller changes have accompanied the bigger news today. One of which being the crossbow, that was introduced around two and a half months ago for Valentine’s Day, has been placed into the vault alongside the Submachine Gun, Smoke Grenades and the Guided Missile.

It wasn’t regarded as a particularly good weapon, but it’s removal has been somewhat controversial. /u/DatGuyRich on Reddit said that it’s “Really annoying. Not even a bad gun if you know how to use it,” while /u/delqhic followed up with “it shouldn’t have been vaulted, it should’ve been removed from chests and found as floor loot only.” /u/David182nd had a solid alternative, suggesting the scope should be removed and it should have a zoom similar to the hunting rifle, making it slightly more viable at close range. On Twitter, @I_AM_WILDCAT found lots of support on his tweet, suggesting that the suppressed SMG should have been removed instead.

Alongside all the other changes, a new type of emote has been added to the game in the form of sprays. Unlockable through the battle pass, there are 20 sprays available in total, ranging from a chalk outline of a dead body, to a bird with headphones walking a cat on a leash, to some cool art of the Shadow Ops outfit. They’ve replaced a lot of the single image emoticons that were unlocked but never tended to be used, and while they do take up a slot on the emote wheel, a fix has been created for that in-game too, as players can now cycle through all of their owned emotes to use whichever they feel is suitable at the time. No longer are you limited to the six on your wheel, it just takes slightly longer to find any that aren’t assigned to a direction.

Today has turned out to be chock full of Fortnite news, and we have a guide to all the new locations and hidden areas throughout the map. We’ve also explained how to unlock the Orange Justice dance and Omega skin, along with detailing some of the leaked upcoming skins.
