Today, Epic Games announced that an Avengers: Infinity War will be making its way into Fortnite Battle Royale with a crossover event that is set to begin tomorrow, May 8th. According to a report by Entertainment Weekly, the crossover between Avengers: Infinity War and Fortnite will consist of the "Infinity Gauntlet Limited Time Mashup".

The mode will play like a normal match of Fortnite, but players will have the ability to find the all powerful Infinity Gauntlet equipped with all six Infinity Stones. The player that finds the gauntlet will transform into Thanos themselves and be given all of the immense power that the villain possessed on the big screen in Avengers: Infinity War, as he fought against Marvel's Avengers. 

With the teasing of Season 4 for Fortnite by Epic Games leading the Fortnite community to believe that the theme of the season would be superhero based, the thoughts of Marvel or DC Comic characters being made into skins excited many players. However, it looks like that the major comic influence that will first makes its way into Season 4 is players having the chance to play as the Mad Titan Thanos himself. 

Epic Games World Wide Creative Director Donald Mustard gave insight into what went into the creation of the crossover between Fortnite and Avengers: Infinity War in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"Out of the blue, I get this call from Joe. And after a bit of geeking out over each other’s work, we start brainstorming these crazy ideas. It was really important that whatever we did, it had to be super authentic to both Fortnite and the Avengers: Infinity War, and something that fans of both would be excited about. About an hour later, we had the bones of this awesome idea for a limited time gameplay mode, and almost immediately our team got started," said Mustard
