Fortnite Battle Royale has become the most popular video game in the world and is now known as the go to gaming experience for professional athletes of multiple sports leagues, such as the Major Base League (MLB) and National Basketball Association (NBA). One of these avid Fortnite players in the world of professional sports is Red Sox Pitcher David Price. The veteran MLB player has never been shy about his love for competing in the battle royale game, as he has stated that he frequently chases after victory royales in Fortnite till the early morning hours. However, after David Price was diagnosed with carpal tunnel, many people began to question whether the Red Sox Pitchers avid Fortnite hobby was causing the health problem.
This lead the MLB and Red Sox to look into David Price's gaming habits, as the organization has more than $200 million invested into David Price's contract. Red Sox reporter for the MLB Ian Browne reported that David Price has stated that he will no longer play Fortnite at the Red Sox's ballpark, as "he is aware the topic has been a distraction last couple of days."

Boston Herald reporter Michael Silverman later reported that that David Price did not believe that his playing of Fortnite had caused his carpal tunnel, but has decided to step away from playing the battle royale title to avoid any more concerns with his video game hobby.
From Price: He does not believe video games contributed to his wrist problem. Sounds as if he will back off playing them some if that helps & find new hobby. Getting treatment, will sleep w wrist brace. He will pitch Saturday in Toronto. His bulllen today went very well.

While it is unfortunate to see an avid gamer step away from playing a game that he loves, it is not surprising to see the Red Sox wanting David Price to avoid anything that might possibly be causing his carpal tunnel issue, as the team has millions of dollars invested in him to be able to pitch effectively for the MLB team.
