A new rumor hints that a much requested Metroid character might be making its way to the newest Super Smash Bros game.

Everybody loves a juicy rumor, and fans of the Super Smash Bros franchise will certainly be hoping that this particular rumor is true. Leaked on GameFAQs a couple of months ago, the latest stirrings point to the possibility that none-other than Ridley from the Metroid series will be making his way to the grand stage.

“Ridley is actually going to be playable on Smash Bros. for Switch.

No, I'm not kidding.”

-User Vergeben from GameFAQs

The user goes on to elaborate, stating that “All I know for sure and from one of my most credible and proven sources (the one who told me about Metroid Prime 4 being developed by Bandai Namco before anyone else said or knew anything about that) is that Ridley is a newcomer, the game is infact a sequel, but there will be assets being reused to some extent(s).”

Whether or not this rumor proves to be true, the undeniable fact is that Ridley has long been a requested character for the franchise, as seen in this Kotaku piece from all the way back in 2014. Ridley isn’t the only big leak we have in the lead up to E3 however, as seen here. With multiple big titles being hinted at, and previous inclusions to the Smash Bros franchise, is it really so hard to believe that Ridley may be coming to Super Smash Bros 5? Probably, but that doesn’t make fans hope any less.
