Today, during the E3 2018 Xbox E3 Media Briefing, the next entry in the Halo franchise was announced as Halo Infinite.

Coming into the Xbox E3 Media Briefing taking place at E3 2018, the next entry in the popular Halo franchise was rumored and speculated to possibly be Halo 6 or Halo Infinity. However, during the opening of the Xbox e3 2018 Media Briefing Microsoft officially announced that the next Halo game will be called Halo Infinite

A short cinematic trailer for Infinite was shown and showed a world in the game's universe and its environment with a scene of Master Chief holding his iconic helmet to his side. No further details or information regarding what kind of genre that Infinite will be a part of or where it stands in the franchise were revealed with only the confirmation of the new game being titled Halo Infinite being shown.

The official description of the E3 2018 trailer for the new title promises to lead the franchise in "new and unexpected directions." The upcoming entry in the franchise is being developed by 343 Industries who is utilizing its brand new Slipspace Engine, which means Infinite looks to have the potential of being the most graphically advanced and best performing title in the franchise.

Halo 5 was the last entry in the popular Xbox exclusive first person shooter franchise, and now fans of the series will no doubt be excited to learn more about what Infinite is planning to one of the most storied multiplayer video game franchises in the industry's history, as players "play as the Master Chief on his greatest adventure yet to save humanity," said Phil Spencer, head of the Xbox division at Microsoft.
