Opening the Bethesda presentation at E3 2018, Pete Hines called out Walmart Canada for some unfortunate leaks.

As the showcase for Bethesda opens for E3 2018, Pete Hines, Vice President of Public Relations and Marketing, took to the stage to kick things off. While the showcase is jam packed with interesting new twists on existing titles, and news on upcoming releases, Pete took a little time to reference some unfortunate leaks that may have ruined some of the surprise.

Quipping “We’re starting with a game we announced a few months ago through our friends at Walmart Canada”, Hines started the presentation with a little humor as he acknowledged the unfortunate leaks that have been popping up in the lead-up to E3 2018. The official Twitter account for Rage actually responded to the leak, taking the time to highlight some inaccuracies in the leaked image.

The response from the main Bethesda account and Pete Hines himself was perhaps a little more serious, however the developers seemed to take the misstep in their stride.

The actual presentation looked good, with a new story set in the “Rage” universe created by Bethesda. Though we didn’t see a ton of references to the original game, the gameplay and art style looked great on the big screen, much better than the leaks and teasers we’d been exposed to in the past few weeks.

With the combination of id Software, known for their Doom, Quake, and Wolfenstein series, and Avalanche Studios, the minds behind the Just Cause series and the 2015 Mad Max game, Rage 2 looks to kick player’s right in the guts when it releases.
