The popular party game franchise was revealed at the Nintendo Direct E3 presentation and is coming to the Nintendo Switch later this year.

Fans of the Mario Party series tuning in to Nintendo’s E3 presentation were given a nice surprise, with the revelation of a new Mario Party game coming to the Nintendo Switch later this year. It’s called Super Mario Party, and the portability of the Nintendo Switch offers some interesting ways to play the game.

As we see in the trailer, the game appears to be playable in multiple ways, and using the Nintendo Switch’s trademark portability, in multiple locations. The trailer also shows off the ability to combine multiple Nintendo Switch units, which allow the players to modify the way the mini-game maps shape up, changing the landscape of the battlefield. Characters in the game appear to be able to move through the different Nintendo Switch’s, effectively turning the cluster in a kind of modular TV screen.

Some mini-games also appear to support a kind of split-screen mode, only showing what each player needs to see on their individual Nintendo Switch screens. We also got an official release date, and the official Nintendo of America Twitter account was quick to follow up to confirm the release date.

This wasn’t the only big title revealed during Nintendo’s E3 presentation, with the revelations of the massive roster planned for the upcoming Super Smash Bros. game that was shown for the first time during the Nintendo Direct presentation. Additionally, we can see the growth of Fortnite isn’t slowing any time soon, with the news that not only will it be coming to the Nintendo Switch, but it will be available later today.
