It would appear that Capcom is gearing up a new competition for Monster Hunter fans across the United States. They announced the Monster Hunter World USA Championship with a ton of details!

If you've been looking to show off your monster hunting prowess or see some of the best hunters, compositions, and tactics in action, it would appear that Capcom is getting ready to give you your chance in the United States. The crew behind Monster Hunter World has just teased a new competition in the form of the Monster Hunter World USA Championship and promises that details are coming soon.

The announcement came from the official Monster Hunter Twitter channel late on June 27, 2018. In the tweet, the Monster Hunter crew announced that this new competition will be dubbed the "Monster Hunter World USA Championship" and a link to a new official Monster Hunter Championship website. Though the site is barren for the time being, it does announce that the competition will take place in San Francisco, California this summer, and the MH crew promises that details will drop in the evening on June 28, 2018.

This competition seems to be the first of its kind in official capacity for the Monster Hunter World title, which has generally been embraced and enjoyed by players the world around, along with Capcom pumping out new content for the game on the regular to keep challenging and rewarding hunters regularly. And though it will seemingly be limited to the United States for the time being, it opens the door for an interesting slew of new competition that could continue on to other regions should this initial competition do well.

With guilds already in place and various hunters already constantly pursuing cooperative play to form the best strategies and tactics for each more difficult hunt, whatever this championship is should provide a unique opportunity for the best hunters to prove their mettle against an interesting new challenge.

Update June 28th

The details of the event have been revealed. Teams of two will battle it out to see who can defeat the required monsters in the fastest time, with the top eight teams advancing to the finals where they will compete for the title of the Fastest Hunter.

The first task at hand is the Qualifier Quest, where players will need to defeat the Pukei-Pukei monster. The Quest Name is Arena Quest 01: Slay Pukei-Pukei, in the Arena Locale, with the available weapons being the Great Sword, Sword and Shield, Hammer, Switch Axe, and Light Bowgun. This is an active quest in the current version of the game, with the quests available at the MONSTER HUNTER: World USA Championship Exhibition being based on the latest game update. Taking one of the top spots here will send players to the main event, where they will face a different task.

The Finals Quest is a little different, with players required to be HR 16 or higher to participate. The quest will also be available for only a limited time, June 28th 5:00pm to August 1st 4:59pm (Pacific Time). Players will need to complete the Quest Nergigante Slay Event 4, in the Arena Locale, with only the following weapons available: Sword and Shield, Dual Blades, Lance, Switch Axe, and Light Bowgun. This quest will not be visible in the public rankings in the game, and will likewise use the latest game update at the time of the contest.

The Grand Prize for the winner is a Monster Hunter World Memorigin Tourbillon watch, as well as the chance to represent the United States at the invitational exhibition event held in Japan during fall 2018. Participating players will also receive a USA Championship shirt and a “Goodie Bag”, though the details of what will be inside the bag will be revealed at a later date. Attendees will also receive a Monster Hunter World Lanyard.

In addition to the main event, there are also other activities for viewers and players to participate in, including a Producer signing session, a Challenge Booth, Art Gallery, and more, all taking place at the Terra Gallery & Events at 511 Harrison St, San Francisco. The event itself will be on Saturday, July 28th 2018 between 12pm and 7pm (Pacific Time). You can check out the official website, here, for more details on the event and to purchase tickets to catch all the action.
