Earlier this year, Ninja partnered up with world renowned rapper Drake to play some Fortnite on Twitch. The pair broke the record for number of concurrent viewers, recruiting JuJu Smith-Schuster and Travis Scott along the way. They peaked 635,000 concurrent viewers and you can read more on the stream as it happened, including VODs here. It was a momentous occasion for Fortnite fans and gamers alike. It was another step forward in video games becoming more mainstream and since then, other celebrities from different industries have started to stream Fortnite, like Marshmello and Dele Alli.

We’ve seen the massive impact that Fortnite has had on the gaming industry since its launch, as well as the more mainstream impact that has grown out of the initial collaboration between Ninja and Drake. More and more celebrities are stepping forward to become a part of the world-wide phenomenon that has become Fortnite, from athletes imitating their favorite in-game dances, to the multitude of fans who tuned in to watch the Fortnite Celebrity Pro-Am earlier this month. As the game continues to pick up momentum, we’re seeing more and more people embrace the fun that comes from teaming up with your buddies and dropping into a match, looking for that Victory Royale.
If this does end up being Drake paying homage to the night that kicked off the show, then we’re sure to see the impact that Fortnite, and gaming, will have and will continue to have on pop culture. For more Fortnite news, check out the latest Skin to hit the Fortnite Item Shop, here.
