A goal has been set for players of Pokémon Go this weekend that could unlock a special Articuno Event if reached.

The bar has been set for Pokémon Go players this weekend, with a reward at the end should the goal be met. As Pokémon Go kicks off the Dortmund, Germany Safari Zone, players around the world have been set a goal that can benefit everyone playing the game, regardless of their location.

The goal itself is for players at the Safari Zone to complete 100,000 Research Tasks over the weekend, while globally players will need to complete a whopping 5 Million Research Tasks before the weekend is through. As players reach their goals, they will be able to unlock XP bonuses for catching Pokémon, hatching eggs, and participating in Raid Battles. If the Global challenge is met, then players around the world will be given five free Raid Passes when they spin a Photo Disc at a Pokémon Gym for Articuno Day, featuring Articuno. If the goal is met, then July 7th will see Articuno available in Raid Battles across the globe for a brief three-hour period, with the possibility of encountering its Shiny form as well for the first time.

The next Global Challenge will take place in the middle of July, during the Pokémon Go Fest in Chicago, and while we don’t yet know what the challenge or reward will be, it’s very well could be yet another Legendary Pokémon making its way to Raid Battles.
