Dead Island: Survivors is the newest zombie survival game for your mobile device, and if you're looking to knock some undead heads together, our guide will show you how to get there.

So you heard the news that Dead Island got itself a mobile game today. Dead Island: Survivors puts a top-down spin on fighting the undead hordes, asking us to build and fortify forts to protect survivors as we wallop zombies with powerful melee weapons. This might sound like your kind of game, and you want to know how to jump in and try it out. Our handy guide will show you exactly where to go.

When can I play the game?

Right now. Right this very second. It can be downloaded to your iOS or Android device as soon as you’re done reading this guide.

How can I play the game?

Do you own an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch with iOS 8.1 or higher? What about an Android device (phone or tablet) running Android 5.0 or higher? If any of this applies to you -- and unless you’re my dad, it likely will -- you’re able to download and play right now.

Where do I download the game?

All you have to do is go to the native application store on your device (App Store for iOS, Google Play Store for Android), search “Dead Island Survivors” in the Search bar, watch the icon appear, and get going.

What else do I need to know before starting the game?

The Dead Island: Survivors program takes up a hefty 966.6 MB on your device -- just under a full gig -- so if you take a lot of selfies at the gym or high quality pictures of whatever food you’re about to eat, you might have to clear some space to fit this game on your device. Not a ton of space, but some.

I’m a parent, is this game OK for my kid?

The zombies of Dead Island: Survivors are a gross bunch, gangly limbs falling off as they get damaged and rotting flesh making up most of their bodies. Also, when a zombie gets to a survivor, the resulting bloodshed can be pretty gross. As such, maybe the young’uns take another turn on some other game before jumping into this one. Maybe Pokemon Go, where we can help with the 2nd anniversary event happening now.
