The Silph Road subreddit recently revealed some new Pokemon hidden in Pokemon Go data, including Deoxys, Celebi, Smeargle and more.

At long last, Trainers will finally be able to catch a number of unobtainable Pokemon in Pokemon Go! In a post on r/TheSilphRoad, u/JANKAlml posted an infographic of the new Pokemon that will be obtainable at some point in the near future. Smeargle, Celebi, Jirachi, Nincada, Ninjask, Shedinja, Clamperl, Huntail, and all four Deoxys forms have both regular and Shiny models found in the game’s data files. Animations and movesets are currently unknown, as is how these Pokemon will be obtainable.

Gorebyss, Clamperl's forgotten evolution

We imagine these Pokemon will be available through either Community Days, raid battles, or through special Field Research missions, similar to how Mew is obtainable through the ‘A Mythical Discovery” questline. It’s also unknown where Gorebyss, Clamperl’s other evolution, fits into this. There’s no model seen in the infographic, which means there might not be data that suggests its inclusion into the game at this point. Also unknown is the status of the other currently unobtainable Pokemon, Spinda and Kecleon. Rumors were abound that Niantic could not feasibly recreate Spinda’s highly unique model type, which made it impossible to include in the game.

Six Spinda, all with different patterns

For those unaware, Spinda’s sprite in the main series Pokemon games is a highly articulate testament to random number generation. There are currently 4,294,967,295 different combinations of patterns Spinda can have. This might have been a little too out of Niantic’s budget, even if the game is wildly successful. As for Kecleon, we’re not quite sure why it hasn’t been included. It isn’t a particularly difficult Pokemon to find in the main series games, it isn’t a legendary, and it isn’t anything special other than having a unique ability, Color Change, which changes its type to match the last attack it was hit by. We’re excited to see what Niantic has in store for Kecleon.

We’ll be dialed into any new information about these datamined Pokemon, so stay tuned! Until then, why not check out our article on Pokemon Go events we’d love to see! Then go check out our hub of all things Pokemon Go for how to be the very best (like no one ever was)!
