In Pokemon Go, Tyrogue can evolve into one of three Pokemon: Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee, and Hitmontop. We'll show you how you can tell which Pokemon you'll get when you hit that "Evolve" button!

Tyrogue made his first appearance in Pokemon Gold and Silver as the Baby form of Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, and the also-debuting Hitmontop. The game had a somewhat hidden way to determine which of the three martial art masters Tyrogue would evolve into. If Tyrogue's Defense was higher than its Attack, it evolved into Hitmonchan, if his Attack was higher, Hitmonlee was the end result, and if both stats were the same, he evolved into Hitmontop. In Pokemon Go, Tyrogue has a similar evolution path, but not exactly the same. Here's how to tell what your Tyrogue will evolve into:

Tyrogue Evolution Guide

Select your Tyrogue from your Box, then click the menu button and click "Appraisal." Your faction leader should say something along the lines of, "Its HP/Attack/Defense is its strongest feature" and that is what you're looking for. If your leader says Defense is his strongest feature, then you'll receive a Hitmonchan. If Attack is its strongest, then you'll get Hitmonlee. If HP is the strongest, you'll receive Hitmontop.

Defense is the highest stat
Attack is the highest stat
HP is the highest stat

Without any way to exactly pinpoint Attack and Defense stats in-game without a third-party app, this seems to be the best compromise for determining which Pokemon you'll get when evolving your Tyrogue. While none of these Pokemon are particularly useful for battling, you'll need one of each to complete the Pokedex, so it's helpful to know what you're going to get from evolving your Tyrogue. Plus, these Pokemon are among the coolest designs, especially Hitmonchan, so that's got to be worth something, right?

Now that you know how to get the Tyrogue evolution you want, why not brush up on the newest gameplay mechanic, Lucky Pokemon?
