After claiming victory in the first series yesterday, the London Spitfire were in prime position to claim victory in the Inaugural Season of the Overwatch League. Though the Philadelphia Fusion put up a fight throughout, the day ultimately belonged to the London Spitfire as they swept the second series and claimed the ultimate title. Here’s a brief breakdown of the games.
The first map, Junkertown, saw the Fusion make their attack first. After battling their way through the stiff London defense, the Fusion were ultimately stopped shy of the final point, unable to progress any further. When it came time for the London attack, they were able to rapidly push the payload through the map before ultimately reaching the required distance with time to spare.

The second map, Lijiang Tower, saw the London Spitfire once again put on an incredible performance as they swiftly captured the first point and held it for the duration of the match. The second round was a bit more of a contest, though the Fusion were ultimately only able to secure 38% of the zone before being forced away, handing London the round and map and setting themselves up for a climactic final battle.
The third and final map of the Overwatch League would be King’s Row. The Fusion took their attack first and were able to advance the payload through the map to reach the end of the course, though they dipped into overtime to do so. The London Spitfire were also able to push the payload to the end though they had some time remaining at the end, setting up an overtime showdown for the championship. With just over one minute on the clock, London began what would be their final assault on the point, pushing the Fusion back and holding them at bay while they secured the required amount to claim the map, series, and Overwatch League championship.
To the thunderous applause of the fans in the Barclays arena, the London Spitfire have claimed victory for the Inaugural Season of the Overwatch League. Though some of the players from both teams will return later in the year for the All-Stars event, for now the London Spitfire can rest easy as the Overwatch League Champions.
