Oh My God, hailing from China, have taken first place in the PGI 2018 FPP tournament after a blistering day one performance.

While Gen.G Gold showed how strong they are at third-person by winning the TPP tournament at PGI 2018 in Berlin, they and everyone else failed to meet the standards Oh My God set during FPP. In day one, they won three out of four rounds, securing themselves an almost 1000 point lead over second place going into the second half of the tournament. Though their second day showing wasn’t as strong, they held onto their lead and took home the gold frying pan trophy.

Nobody expected the eastern teams to perform at FPP, as TPP is the vastly preferred gamemode in that region of the world. Teams like Liquid, Welcome To South Georgo and Ghost Gaming were favourites to run away with the first-person event, but hopes were dashed after OMG did the impossible on day one.

The roster consisting of Laio ‘xiaorong’ Liang-Guang, Yao ‘lionkk’ Hao, Wang ‘silentBT’ Yang and Zhang ‘xiaohaixxxx’ Jin-Hai stormed to victory, despite Team Liquid staging a very impressive attempt at a comeback. What was once a 1000+ point lead against the rest of the teams became just a 200 point lead by the end, but they held on and won $400,000 between them. Second place went to Team Liquid, while third went to WTSG - the same placements they earned during TPP.

PGI 2018 was a great showing for fans and players alike. The production quality was outstanding and for people attending in person, there weren’t too many technical delays or issues. Hopefully, PGI 2018 will set the standard for PUBG esports in future. Also, you can read more on how WTSG claim they didn’t practice TPP whatsoever prior to placing third.
