It was a big day for Super Smash Bros Ultimate as Nintendo revealed a slew of new additions in a Direct video, including Simon Belmont, King K. Rool Dark Samus, Chrom, and all-new and returning stages.

The good news keeps coming for Smash Bros Ultimate. Rumors have been rampant regarding characters like King K. Rool and Goku, but a few rumors have finally been confirmed. Simon Belmont of Castlevania and King K. Rool of Donkey Kong Country are coming to Smash Bros Ultimate alongside Dark Samus, Chrom, and new and returning stages and music.

The Nintendo Direct took place on the morning of August 8, 2018 on Nintendo’s official YouTube channel. In the massive direct, Nintendo jumped right into reveals of the aforementioned characters to kick things off. Simon kicked things off as a brand new character, also featuring Richter Belmont as Simon’s Echo Fighter. Dark Samus of Metroid Prime fame is not Samus’s Echo, but rather it’s own unique character as well and Chrom returns from the Fire Emblem series. King K. Rool ended the trailer with what started as a troll and ended as an awesomely cheeky reveal.

Alongside these characters, new and old stages are coming to the game. Final Destination was confirmed and the all-new New Donk City Hall is bringing the wonderful scene from Mario Odyssey to the game. The number of playable stages has been said to be at around nearly 120.

That’s not all. What would New Donk City be without Pauline’s song, “Jump Up, Super Star!”? It’s coming to the game alongside a ton of other new and classic compositions of music charting the long course of Nintendo history. With every piece of music considered, there’s 800 songs in the game, not including menu and transition music.

Dark Samus and Chrom were also part of a rumor that dropped on 4Chan early in July.

A boss was also confirmed in Smash Bros Ultimate. The trademark dragon Rathalos from Monster Hunter is coming to Smash Bros as both a boss to be defeated, and an assist trophy to be used against unfortunate foes.

With even just Simon Belmont, King K. Rool, Dark Samus, and Chrom confirmed, Smash Bros Ultimate is looking even more amazing than ever before. Will other rumored characters like Geno make the cut? It remains to be seen, but today’s Direct was most definitely a massive one for those who have been speculating and wondering about the finalized roster of Smash Bros Ultimate. Even then, with the game coming to Switch on December 7, 2018, there’s still a lot of time to see any new tricks Nintendo has up its sleeve.
