In a surprise announcement at Samsung Unpacked, the Fortnite Android beta has gone live today to download on Samsung Galaxy devices.

Earlier this month we reported that Fortnite Android may be a 30-day timed exclusive for Samsung Galaxy devices and we can confirm today that that is kind of correct. At the Samsung Unpacked event today, Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games announced that the Fortnite Android beta is now live for Samsung Galaxy devices only.

Supported devices initially include: Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, S8, S8+, S9, S9+, Note 8, Note 9, Tab S3 and Tab S4. If you purchase a Samsung Note 9 or Samsung Galaxy Tab S4, you’ll be given the exclusive Samsung Galaxy skin that was leaked earlier this week. Check it out below.

Fortunately for players on other Android devices, the Samsung exclusivity won’t last long. The beta will be coming to other devices over the next few days and it includes:

  • Asus: ROG Phone, Zenfone 4 Pro, 5Z, V
  • Essential: PH-1
  • Huawei: Honor 10, Honor Play, Mate 10 / Pro, Mate RS, Nova 3, P20 / Pro, V10
  • LG: G5, G6, G7 ThinQ, V20, V30 / V30+

As previously rumoured, Fortnite on Android will also bypass the Google Play store, instead opting for a direct download. If you want to sign up for the Fortnite Android beta, head here where you will receive an email containing a download link. It’s a waiting list though so unfortunately, it’s not instant.
