The Heavy Sniper Rifle is now available in Fortnite Battle Royale as part of the 5.21 update released this morning.

With the introduction of the Heavy Sniper Rifle in Fortnite this morning, there are now four different types of sniper in the game: Bolt-Action, Semi-Auto, Hunting and Heavy. Each of them fills a different role in a loadout and the Heavy is perhaps the most versatile sniper rifle yet. It’s an enormous .50 caliber sniper modeled after the various types of Barrett in real life and like all the other snipers, it uses heavy ammo.

Soaring 50's is a new LTM that also arrived with today's patch.

It deals a hefty 157 damage (150 with the epic variant) to players for a body shot which makes it a fantastic option if you don’t want to use a Bolt-Action. The main use for the Heavy however comes in the form of structure damage. It deals over 1000 damage to any building or structure, which is enough to destroy almost anything on the map in one hit.

Spot a huge build battle in the distance? A couple of Heavy Sniper shots to the foundations will have it crumbling in no time at all. Thanks to the reduced bullet drop, it means you don’t have to guesstimate how high to aim either. Very handy if you see a player hopping and skipping in the distance too. Of course, a headshot is still a one-hit-kill. The only downside to the gun compared to any of the other snipers is the increased reload time, which means high-skilled players may still opt for a Bolt-Action or Hunting Rifle over the Heavy.

To celebrate the release of the gun and give players some experience with the Heavy Sniper Rifle, an updated version of Sniper Shootout is now available that introduces the new weapon and removes the Scoped Assault Rifle. Soaring 50’s has also replaced 50v50, which is the same concept but when you leap off any platform higher than 10m, you can press the [Jump] button to open your glider.
