We end the "Summer of Regi" with Regirock! We'll tell you all about the Rock-type legendary and show you which Pokemon to bring in order to smash it into dust!

The last of the three Regis, Regirock, is the newest Level 5 raid boss in Pokemon Go! This Rock-type legendary will be a fantastic addition to your team and.....you know what? I'm done being optimistic. We all know how dreadful the "Summer of Regi" has been, and the only bright spot in having Regirock show up is that now we know it's (mercifully) almost over. So let's just get down to business and figure out how to beat up Regirock so we can get our Pokedex entry and our Rare Candies, and move on.

Regirock Raid Basics

Regirock is a Rock-type Pokemon (surprise!) and checks in at 41,777 CP as a Level 5 raid boss. Its fast moves will be Rock Throw (Rock) or Rock Smash (Fighting), while its charge moves can be Zap Cannon (Electric), Stone Edge (Rock), and Focus Blast (Fighting). Its catchable CP will range from 1682-1764, where the max range is a perfect, 100% IV Regirock. Its weather boosted CP will range from 2103-2205, making it slightly usable unlike its Ice and Steel-type kin.

The following Pokemon will be your best bets to beating Regirock:

Machamp

The champ is here! Machamp is the ultimate Fighting-type Pokemon, especially when armed with Counter and Dynamicpunch. We hope you've been assembling your Machamp army thanks to its availability as a Level 4 raid boss.

Kyogre

The big fish is another superior option when battling Regirock, and in fact will be the superior option to Machamp under Rainy conditions. Waterfall and Hydro Pump are your desired moves here.

Breloom

Sometimes, there are Pokemon that perfectly counter another, and Breloom is Regirock's foil. Counter and Dynamicpunch will be the desired moves here, but if your Breloom has Bullet Seed or Seed Bomb, it can work as long as the sun is shining. Otherwise, the Fighting-type moveset is your best bet for maximum DPS.

Hariyama

Have you been grinding your Makuhita raids? We hope so! Hariyama provides a nice counter (no pun intended) for Regirock for those who can't find groups to raid Machamp well enough. Counter and Dynamicpunch are the best bets as far as moves are concerned here.

Groudon

In a match reminiscent of old Godzilla moves, Groudon offers a great foil to Regirock. Mud Shot and Solarbeam are your best options for moves here, as they'll do the most damage to Regirock, especially under Sunny weather conditions.

Pokemon With Fighting, Grass, Ground, Water, or Steel-Type Moves

Luckily, Rock is one of the worst defensive typings in the game, so you'll find a ton of Pokemon with super-effective moves to go against it. Pokemon like Venusaur, Blastoise, Exeggutor, Blaziken, Focus Blast Mewtwo, Metagross, Scizor, and more can be used to defeat Regirock.

Solo

Like its contemporaries, Regirock can not be soloed. Bring at least 4 high-level friends to help you defeat it.

Weather

For a Weather Boosted Regirock, look for Partly Cloudy conditions. If you're looking for a leg up on your rocky foe, look to battle under Sunny, Rainy, or Cloudy conditions for the boosts to Grass, Ground, Water, and Fighting. Snowy conditions will boost Steel types, but players in the Northern Hemisphere won't be likely to see those conditions materialize.

Shiny

There's been no word yet if Regirock will be catchable in its Shiny form. Should that change, we'll let you know!

Best of luck getting through this home stretch of the "Summer of Regi," Trainers. May all your Regirocks be high IV and as useful as they can possibly be. If you're interested in taking your raid frustrations out on other players, you may soon be in luck, thanks to the rumors of a potential PVP mode for Pokemon Go!
