Pokemon GO Celebi Special Research Quest Announced

Niantic has announced a new special research quest for Pokemon GO that will allow players to capture the mythical Pokemon, Celebi, as well as an increased presence of Johto favorites!

Following Pokemon GO Fest events, another big week is coming up for trainers worldwide. Trainers can look forward to the release of a special new research centered around the time-bending antics of Celebi. The Mythical Pokemon is up for grabs alongside a slew of other rewards and surprises for anyone who takes part.

Announced today on the official Pokemon GO website, the event is set to begin worldwide on August 20, 2018, offering all Trainers a new research quest for for Celebi. Players who take part in the research tasks will gain XP, items, and all sorts of different Pokemon as they progress through the quest. That said, those who have already caught Celebi from the previous Pokemon GO Fest events won't miss out on being rewarded. Plenty of Celebi candy is up for grabs to those who already have the whimsical time-traveling creature.

Celebi is quite the rare blend of psychic and grass-type Pokemon with powers blending the past, present, and future to its whims.

That's not all though. According to the announcement for the Celebi research quest, a whole slew of particular Pokemon will be out and about during the event.

"The presence of Celebi has also drawn out the appearance of more Pokémon originally discovered in the Johto region. Plus, Field Research relating to Pokémon discovered in the Johto region will be available throughout this special time. So get into the Johto spirit and get ready for a new adventure!"

It would appear that Johto Pokemon will be numerous and bountiful during the research quest, so it's a good opportunity to fill your stock with any Johto Pokemon you missed or power up the ones you have in your stable. Moreover, a new Celebi t-shirt will be available in the item shop and new Gold and Silver outfits are set to unlock automatically for those who've put effort into their Johto Pokedex.
