If you’re an avid FIFA player, especially Ultimate Team, then you’ll know the name FUTWIZ. The squad builder site has been around for a number of years, since 2012 when Ultimate Team was nowhere near as big as it is now. The site has a humongous database of FIFA Ultimate Team players and its squad building tool has been a fan favourite for a long time. They’ve recently branched out into esports too, with six FIFA players signed to their roster competing in tournaments around the world.

In their efforts to broaden the FUTWIZ horizons, especially in esports, the team has announced they’ve partnered up with Belgian professional footballer Ritchie de Laet, current defender for Aston Villa. The ex-Premier League winner is no foreigner to the gaming world as he’s previously streamed FIFA on his personal Twitch channel and he attended the recent FIFA eWorld Cup as a guest.
“I’m thrilled to join this amazing organization, having seen what they achieved last season,” de Laet said. “After having talked to Dan and some of the FUTWIZ players at the eWorld Cup Grand Final my mind was made up, I really wanted to join the team and help them in anyway I can not only for the upcoming season but hope for more seasons to come.”
Dan, team manager for FUTWIZ explained in the news post that they’re “absolutely thrilled to welcome Ritchie to Team FUTWIZ in an official capacity,” and that “his experience in football combined with his passion for gaming it feels like the perfect fit. We’ve played a few games of FUT against each-other and unfortunately for me he’s beaten me each time – his 99 rated pro item is unstoppable! Ritchie is obviously a proven winner and brings an incredible amount of real-world football contacts and knowledge, we can’t wait to get started together.”
