It looks like there’s always more surprises when it comes to Pokémon Go, with Niantic announcing on Twitter that the Legendary Pokémon Ho-Oh will be making a surprise return for the next few days. Appearing in Raid Battles from now until August 27th, Ho-Oh will provide the perfect end to round out Johto Week, with the possibility of catching its shiny form proving to be a nice surprise.

Ho-Oh is an incredibly tough Pokémon to take down, thanks to its high stats and the presence of Solar Beam in its arsenal, however we’ve still got a few tips and tricks to help you take down this powerhouse and claim the Legendary Rainbow Pokémon.
Tyranitar
The big boss Tyranitar makes our top pick, especially when using Smack Down and Stone Edge. After all, who doesn’t want to see a slightly smaller Godzilla take on a giant bird?
Omastar
Praise Helix! Omastar is another heavy hitter that will serve you well if you’re taking on Ho-Oh. With Rock Throw and Rock Slide in his arsenal, Omastar can help tame this bird.
Golem
Our stalwart ally Golem is once again called to battle. With Rock Throw and either Stone Edge or Rock Blast, Golem will be invaluable in the fight against Ho-Oh.
Kyogre
The big kahuna, so to speak, the legendary fish (whale?) is also an excellent choice to bring to battle, with Waterfall and Hydro Pump helping to put a dampener on the shining birds plans.
You’re not going to want to take this raid on solo, so make sure you bring your friends along for the battle. There’s a possibility of finding Ho-Oh in its shiny form as well, so make sure you get out there and see what you can find.
