Free-to-play, Car combat MOBA Heavy Metal Machines is preparing to leave Steam Early Access and has a new trailer and features to celebrate its launch!

Among the world of MOBAs, few have managed stand out like the unique nature of Brazilian developer Hoplon’s Heavy Metal Machines. Featuring a dystopian car-combat world not unlike the dark comedic stylings of Twisted Metal 2, the game has gained quite a following through its Early Access run and soon it will be making its full launch as a free-to-play competitive game.

Heavy Metal Machines’ launch was announced via a press release on September 5, 2018, accompanied by a new trailer on the game’s YouTube channel. On September 19, 2018, the game will leave Early Access, launching with the premier of the Metal Pass system. You can see the launch trailer for the game below.

The Metal Pass is a progression system that will offer missions and levels as part of a season-wide effort. Newcomers and veterans alike will be able to gain new cars, skins, experience boosts, and other rewards across basic and premium tracks.

Since open beta Heavy Metal Machines has seen over 800,000 downloads and carries a highly positive rating in Steam’s feedback system. Hoplon CEO Rodrigo Campo commented on the launch, proud of his team’s success and the feedback from the community thusfar.

“Years of hard work from a very talented team has led us to the release of Heavy Metal Machines,” said Campo. “We are very excited to ‘turn the switch’ and officially launch our game which we hope brings innovation and something unique to the free-to-play and esports scene.”

The frantic 4-on-4 gameplay of Heavy Metal Machines has players delivering a bomb to the heart of their enemy's base as one of many colorful drivers and vehicles across three different class roles.

Moreover, the game is already gearing up for competition according to Marketing and Publishing Manager Tatiana Moreira.

“The official launch is just the start,” claimed Moreira. “We are committed not only bringing regular updates with new content but above all, emphasizing esports and organizing tournaments for our global community.”

With 14 available cars, 2 arenas, and no sign of slowing down, it will be interesting to see if Hoplon and Heavy Metal Machines can cultivate the competitive scene they’re looking for after launch. The arsenal is there, and the fan base is growing. Hopefully we can look forward to seeing some healthy competition in the game’s near future.
