After the recent Nintendo Direct was delayed due to the effects of an earthquake in Japan, datamined Splatoon 2 ranked data on Switch may have the dates for the new one ahead of Nintendo's announcement.

As Japan deals with the unfortunate circumstances of an earthquake which caused tremendous damage and mudslides in Hokkaido, the Nintendo Direct that was scheduled for September 6, 2018 was canceled, but new information datamined from Splatoon 2 on the Nintendo Switch may have revealed what the new dates are going to be for the delayed Direct’s new date.

As first reported by GoNintendo on September 6, 2018, apparently dataminers checking through ranked Splatoon 2 discovered that a ranked rotation pool that was supposed to start on September 7 was suddenly removed very immediately after Nintendo’s announcement to delay the Nintendo Direct. A collection of Salmon Run gear that was supposed to drop on September 7 was also removed.

Upon further investigation, dataminers found that all the aforementioned content and events were apparently moved up to a starting date of September 14. It leads to the conclusion that whatever is going on with Splatoon 2’s ranked content was going have some part in an announcement a day before on the Nintendo Direct. With that said, dataminers believe the new date for the Nintendo Direct can be expected to be September 13, 2018, based on what was found in Splatoon 2.

Of course, it’s not set in stone just yet. Nintendo has yet to confirm anything shown in the ranked data schedule from Splatoon 2 and it may simply be a placeholder as the company deals of the wake of the natural disaster which pushed back the Direct scheduled for September 6, but if there’s any truth to the matter, we can probably also expect the new Nintendo Direct on September 13 to drop at 3PM PT/ 6PM ET, just as the original one was scheduled.

We will continue to report on the latest with this story as it develops and more concrete information becomes available.
