The event mode this weekend is called Mutant Mayhem, which gives players a perfect opportunity to get used to the new MK47 Mutant Assault Rifle.

Earlier this month we reported on patch #21 for PUBG which is one of the biggest and best updates to the game in a while. It introduced the long-awaited Training Mode, a great way for players to practice their gunskill with respawns enabled. There’s also the Tukshai, a vehicle only found on Sanhok. The MK47 Mutant Assault Rifle was the third main addition, great for mid-range engagements.

This weekend, Mutant Mayhem is the timed mode. Unfortunately, there’s no hordes of mutants to shoot - instead it means all players will spawn with MK47 Mutant assault rifles and 100 rounds of ammunition. You’ve also got level one armour and it’s exclusively on Miramar with a score limit of 150. There’s no solo version available though, as the mode is exclusively for squads of four.

If you haven’t used the MK47 Mutant yet, it uses 7.62mm rounds with 20 shots per magazine. It’s only single shot or two-shot burst too, so you can’t hold down the trigger and spray enemies at close range. Care packages are disabled in this mode so you can’t find any outright better gear or switch out what you start with. Everyone’s on a level playing field. You can’t jump in as a solo and kill your random teammates either because friendly fire is off.

The mode is available until Sunday, September 16th which gives you about two days to get stuck in. It finishes at 7pm PDT, 10pm EDT, 3am BST, 4am CEST or 12pm AEST. As usual, the mode is available in FPP and TPP for the North America, Europe and Asia servers. Other players will only have TPP available.

In other PUBG news, it recently hit the milestone of one million players for a full year, before falling short of the mark right after.
