After taking down Splyce in a tough series, G2 Esports will advance to the European League of Legends Championship Series Regional Finals for a final shot at making Worlds.

In a tough series that went the distance, G2 Esports have managed to take down Splyce and will advance to the EU LCS Regional Finals to take on FC Schalke 04 for a spot at the upcoming World Championships. Here’s a brief breakdown of the series.

Match One

The first match seemed to start relatively slowly, with both teams probing for an angle of attack that wouldn’t leave them open to retaliation. Both teams were able to pick up kills early on, though Splyce were the first to get some objectives under their belt. Though G2 did strike back with objectives of their own, Splyce was firmly in the driver’s seat as they lengthened their lead, ultimately securing victory to open up the series.

Match Two

The second match saw G2 strike back with a vengeance, showcasing why they were so feared for so long in the EU LCS. Despite Splyce picking up a few kills in various skirmishes, G2 remained in firm control during this clash, claiming all of the objectives that fell as they ground out a win to even out the score.

Match Three

After their crushing defeat in game two, Splyce rebounded in excellent fashion, turning the tides in this match through their team fighting skills and objective control. G2 were able to put up much more of a fight compared to game one, but their strength from game two seemed to have left them completely, as they struggled to maintain parity before ultimately losing this battle.

Match Four

It seems that when G2 Esports wins a match in this series, it’s a dominant victory, once again dismantling Splyce in every facet of the game as they cruised to another win. While Splyce didn’t walk away empty handed, their meager number of kills could not compare to the strength accumulated by G2 through their objective control, costing them the match and setting up an exciting game five showdown.

Match Five

The final clash between these two teams saw G2 Esports ultimately secure the victory through their objective control once again. Splyce put up much more of a fight this time around, however in the end they were unable to stop the juggernaut once it got rolling. G2 Esports once again proved that the neutral game is the key factor in claiming victory, dominating the objective score to build a lead that allowed them to secure the win they needed.

With G2’s victory, they have advanced to the EU LCS Regional Finals, where they will face off against FC Schalke 04 for the final EU LCS spot at the upcoming World Championships. For more on when that match will take place, check out the official schedule, here.
