Magic: The Gathering has been in closed beta for a while but later this month, players can jump into the open beta as shown off by Day9 and Danny Trejo. Here's how you can download the Magic: The Gathering open beta.

Sean “Day9” Plott, popular Twitch streamer and host of the PC Gaming show at E3 has joined forces with famous actor Danny Trejo (Machete, Breaking Bad, From Dusk Till Dawn, Spy Kids) to announce the Magic: The Gathering Arena open beta. Check out the hilarious trailer below.

The open beta goes live at 1PM PT/3PM ET/8PM BST on Friday, September 27. Players involved in the closed beta will have their accounts wiped when the servers go down on September 24, three days before the open beta. If you made any in-game purchases during the closed beta period though, they will be reimbursed and three new cards from Guilds of Ravnica will be granted.

The devs have confirmed that this will be the last server wipe, barring any unforeseen circumstances, so any cards you collect should last you through till the official launch and beyond. This open beta will introduce new music, art, battlefields and even a new game mode. Called Sealed events, the new mode will give you six packs to open which you can then use to fight against other players.

In their official blog post announcing the open beta, the MTG Arena devs detail some of the features they’re looking to include during the beta. These include playing against friends, experimental event types and more variety, cosmetic items such as card backs and avatars, better player progression and more.

In order to download the Magic: The Gathering open beta, you need to head here to the official site. You can pre-load the beta right now ready for the launch in just over a week. It’s a simple download for the installer, then just follow the instructions. In other card game news today, Blizzard have made some big announcements including a new Paladin hero for Hearthstone.
