We know you like fighting games. With Soul Calibur VI on its way, you want to test it out early and get a feel for the new game. Here's how to get into the Network Test taking place this week on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Bandai Namco is offering those wanting to try Soul Calibur 6 early a chance to help them test their network and play some Ranked Match mode before the game is released next month. Starting Friday, September 28 at 8AM PDT, the test will run all weekend until Sunday evening at 8PM PDT.

How can you get in? Players on Xbox One need an Xbox Live account and internet access, while PlayStation players just need access to the PlayStation Store. But, don’t do this just yet since the client won’t be available until Thursday, September 27 after 8AM PDT.

Xbox One:

  • First off, create an Xbox Live account (or use your existing Xbox Live account, if you have one). You most likely already have one on your system, but this is a starting point.

  • If you do not have Xbox Live Gold on this account, subscribe to the paid service because it’s required here. Now that you have Gold, you just need internet access when it’s time.

  • On Thursday, head over to the Microsoft Store tab on the dashboard of the Xbox One and click the “Search” button.

  • Type “Soulcalibur VI” (exactly as it is here since Namco is picky on the naming) and select it.

PlayStation 4:

  • First thing’s first: Create a Sony Entertainment Network account (or use your existing SEN account).

  • On Thursday, Head to the PlayStation Store icon on the home screen. You’ll need internet access, obviously.

  • Type “Soulcalibur VI” (exactly as it is here since Namco is picky on the naming) and select it.

Gone are the days of game manual booklets, but Namco Bandai has made the controls of both the Xbox One and PS4 versions available in a short PDF format. It’s probably similar to a longer version that will be available at release, but the individual characters have been removed for the “Network Test Edition”. While "15 playable characters" have been teased for the network test, it's unclear who will be left out as 17 have been announced total. It's likely that Tira and Cervantes may be sitting this one out, though.
