Kicking off this weekend on Saturday, October 6, FIFA 19 players on PS4 can enter the Continental Cup qualification. This tournament is the first official EA Sports FIFA 19 Global Series tournament of the season and the finals will take place during Paris Games Week from October 26-28.
31 spots will be available for winners of the qualification tournaments, with one final place going to the winner of a competition held at Paris Games Week directly prior to the Continental Cup finals starting. This tournament is a “major opportunity” for the best FIFA 19 players around the world to compete, stated Phil Rosenberg SVP, Global Publisher and Developer Relations at SIE in a blog post.
In addition to the tournament, EA have announced that PlayStation will be the home of up to 30 exclusive live and online events in countries around the world as part of the EA Sports FIFA 19 Global Series. They will also be the presenting sponsor at several more Global Series events throughout the 2018-19 season.
“This is a pivotal moment in EA competitive gaming’s history, and it will enable us to add to the global ecosystem of the FIFA Global Series by reaching more PlayStation players,” said Todd Sitrin, SVP and GM of the EA Competitive Gaming Division. “With PlayStation live events occurring around the world and airing on FS1, the PlayStation Network or leading esports digital channels such as Twitch and YouTube, we’re extending the global dream of making stars of all our players.”
