Starting in January 2019, the ePremier League will commence. Starting with online qualification, the inaugural ePL competitive gaming tournament will give FIFA 19 players over the age of 16 the chance to “show off their FIFA skills” and earn the privilege of representing a Premier League club. All 20 current Premier League clubs are involved in the ePL, with 320 players from both PS4 and Xbox One able to qualify to the club playoffs.
The top 16 from each console for each club will then face off in a half-day tournament to find the best player on each platform, with the top two progressing through to the ePL Final. The final takes place in London on the weekend of 28-29 March and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports - a huge step forward for competitive FIFA and the esports industry as a whole. On top of that, competitors don’t need to worry about taking part in this over a different event, as the ePL is partnered with the EA Sports FIFA 19 Global Series, so players can still earn pro points.
Gfinity have also announced that they will be developing and executing the “Online Qualification for the Tournament” via their “proprietary tournament management platform”. This basically means they’ll be running and managing everything behind the scenes with their extensive knowledge, history and reputation in the British esports scene.
