All the action from the second day of Worlds 2018 as the action heats up.

We’ve already seen some impressive plays from the first day of Worlds 2018, and now the competing teams will need to settle down, shake off the first day nerves, and start grinding out some wins if they hope to advance beyond the group stage. Can the EU LCS maintain their dominant streak? Can Korea climb back from their embarrassing early performance? Will the NA LCS start putting more victories on the board? Here’s a brief breakdown of the action from the second day of Worlds 2018.

Flash Wolves vs Afreeca Freecs

The Flash Wolves opened the day with another victory, again showing why many consider them to be a Dark Horse favorite for every international tournament they attend. Taking down Korean teams seems to be a specialty for the Wolves, and Afreeca Freecs are just another in a long line of unfortunate victims.

Phong Vu Buffalo vs G2 Esports

There’s a reason veteran players say to never underestimate Wildcard teams at Worlds, and G2 Esports certainly found that out the hard way. Though they put up a valiant effort themselves, G2 were unable to keep pace with the Buffalo’s, falling too far behind in the end as they pick up their first loss of the tournament.

100 Thieves vs Fnatic

Fnatic were under a lot of pressure to find victory in this match, with both of their fellow EU LCS comrades already putting up victories. Luckily the EU LCS Champions were more than capable of putting down 100 Thieves and ending any hopes for the NA representative in this match.

Invictus Gaming vs G-Rex

The first showing of G-Rex on the main stage was less than thrilling, as they fell to Invictus Gaming in quick fashion. Perhaps a combination of nerves, and in the face of some very excellent gameplay from IG, led to the dinosaur squad starting out fairly rough. One can only hope they are able to bounce back and not become too demoralized just yet.

Team Vitality vs Cloud9

High octane action kicked off the second last game of the day, after a series of previously slow and one-sided matches. Both Vitality and Cloud9 were more than comfortable going toe-to-toe and blow-for-blow as this slugfest dragged on. Vitality may have built a lead through the mid-game, but Cloud9 were more than capable of shutting them down where it mattered, picking up their first win of the tournament and giving fresh hope to North American fans.

Gen. G vs Royale Never Give Up

The defending champions, Gen. G, have had a rough start to their campaign, and this showdown with RNG certainly didn’t help matters. Both teams were able to swing the game in their favor at times, however in the end, the top seed from China proved too devastating in their attack, pushing Gen. G back into their base before sealing the deal to claim victory.

It's been a rough start for Korean fans, with their teams failing to maintain pace with some of the other regions. The teams of the EU LCS have shown they are capable of taking down the giants, and there’s still hope for NA fans, as long as they keep believing. By far the biggest winners are fans of the Chinese teams, with RNG, favorites for the event, right on track to claiming the final remaining trophy for the year.
