As if you didn't have enough to do every week in Destiny 2: Forsaken, Bungie announced today the start of this year's Festival of the Lost. The Halloween-themed event has been a fun time in the past, but this year, Bungie will make participating worth your while.

Each year around Halloween time, Guardians get to partake in the Festival of the Lost, a spooky celebration of those who have passed on. Obviously, death is a touchy subject for Guardians in Destiny 2: Forsaken, as the sting of Cayde-6's death still haunts us, despite getting revenge for his murder. Longtime Tower resident Amanda Holliday said that she'd be remiss to not have some fun this year, since Cayde would've hated everyone moping around the Tower. Amanda takes charge and kicks off what could be the best Festival of the Lost yet. Here's what she's got in store for us this year:

Triumphs and Horror Story

Holliday has dressed up the Tower with engrams and other various ornaments of merriment to rise our spirits. She'll also be offering Daily challenges which award Fragmented Shards. These shards can be exchanged for Festival of the Lost masks, as well as Horror Story, a Legendary Auto Rifle.

Haunted Forest

Guardians can also tackle the Haunted Forest, a spooky-themed version of the Vex's Infinite Forest. Guardians will have 15 minutes to progress as far as possible before they're ripped out of the area. The further they progress, the more powerful the enemies will be, so bringing some strong friends is a good idea. Guardians can attempt to challenge the event solo, with some friends, or through matchmaking.

A Murder Mystery

Put your vengeance hat back on, Guardian, as you've got another murder to solve. This time, the former Cryptarch of the Vestian Outpost, Master Ives, has been killed. Bungie jokingly said the culprit, "lost their temper when receiving an Edge Transit," citing of course the fact that we all have about 18,000 Edge Transits that always seem to drop when we need a new helmet or chestpiece.

Bright Sides

As if there wasn't enough going on during this event, players will earn an Ephemeral Engram every time they fill their XP bar after achieving the max character level. Guardians will receive this engram in addition to the Steadfast Engram, which effectively awards players double Bright Engrams for the duration of Festival of the Lost. Guardians may also purchase Ephemeral Engrams from Tess Everis in the Tower, if they so choose. What's in the Engrams? Just some spooky ships and Ghost shells (the cat one is a Twin Galaxies team favorite.)

Players can also get their El Kabong on and play an ethereal guitar, perfect for playing Nickelback covers in the Tower.

Get to grinding out this exclusive content, Guardian, as you only have until November 6 before the event ends. If you need a break from the fun stuff and want to grind out some intense end-game content, check out how to gain access to the Shattered Throne, Destiny 2: Forsaken's high-level dungeon!
