The last time G2 Esports were involved with the Call of Duty scene was back in early 2017, when Infinite Warfare was the game everyone was playing. They were involved for three open CWL events with a team of SpaceLy, Chino, Accuracy and Legal. Their best placement was top 24 - not very impressive at all for an organisation at the very top of other titles. Now, according to Dexerto, the organisation are set to be returning to Call of Duty with Black Ops 4.
Despite being a Spanish-based organisation, they’re going to be picking up a North American team ready for the 2018/29 CWL season, starting with CWL Vegas in December. There’s no confirmation on the roster, but the rumors going around are that it’ll feature former EnVy, CompLexity and Echo Fox players. Chino, Faccento, Ricky, Decemate, Censor and Blazt are a few of the names linked.
If it is a mix of those players then their total pro point accumulation will mean the team definitely gets a shot at pool play when CWL Vegas rolls around. The new 5v5 format means all of those guys could get picked up, as long as one player steps back and is happy to be a coach for the new season. Of course, Black Ops 4 only launched today so we’re yet to see who the very best players are but it goes without saying that all of those rumored are capable of competing at the very top.
Faccento was part of the Echo Fox team that got let go earlier this week so if he’s found a new team so quickly, it means he’s definitely landed on his feet. Saints is another player that was released from the team who doesn’t seem to have a home, so it’s worth putting his name into the mix for potential new G2 players too.
