Despite rumors of financial troubles for the organization, Newbee has still managed to pick up a new sponsor with Intel.

Despite poor showing in recent events and rumors of financial troubles, Newbee has managed to pick up an impressive new sponsor in Intel. Revealed earlier this week, Intel will be teaming up with Newbee, along with other big names such as NVIDIA and Sennheiser Gaming. The news does come at an interesting time however, with rumors of financial hardships making headlines over the past few days.

Last year, employees from LanYou, Newbee’s parent company, sued Newbee owner Yue Wang over a failure to pay salaries for several months. One such employee revealed they had been unpaid for five months straight, with the incident ultimately being settled for 60% of the base salary with no benefits. During the controversy, Wang reached out to those posting about him in a negative light, asking for posts to be taken down. Now, it seems as though similar news is once again raising its head, with new posts alleging Wang has several debts to other esports business figures that are unpaid.

One investor for Vici Gaming, Chen Qing, made a post on Weibo, a Chinese social media site, telling Wang “to not go overboard”, with the implication being that there are more unpaid debts. Sicong Wang, owner of Invictus Gaming, responded to the post saying that Qing was not the only person owed money, and indicated that there is a priority list when it comes to being paid by Newbee. Hopefully, this new deal with Intel can begin to help Newbee climb out of this apparent hole, however with poor showings in recent events, it seems it will take more than money for Newbee to return to the glory they once enjoyed.
