Jaryd ‘summit1g’ Lazar is known for being a great player in shooter games. He's definitely among the best when he plays and streams. But, one thing he's also known for is a blunder involving a Molotov Cocktail in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive years back, during a pitivoal moment during a Dreamhack Austin elimination match. It's haunted him to the point of parody ever since.
He's lived up to it and proven himself ever since, but he keeps a Twitch emote available to commemorate his folly. His users got a chance to utilize that emote with "1G" in the fire of a molotov like crazy as he fulls nearly the exact same move he did during that famous CSGO match.
Playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's Blackout mode, Summit and streamer JoshOG had the game in the bag. They were nearly the last remaining players until summit's molotov trigger finger slipped. While trying to activate a button to open a garage doorway, he instead threw the grenade directly in front of himself at the wall. This caused him some pretty heavy burn damage (knocking off over two of his six health bars) as he ran away from the area to heal.
During that time, JoshOG had been downed by another player during the distracting moment. Hiding behind a stone wall, summit resolves to heal himself and try to provide limited cover fire for his fallen teammate. Using a Med Kit, he finally gets himself fully healed and heads back to the now empty driveway to try to revive JoshOG. As he started to heal Josh, he took a few shots too many and was taken out by o.ne of the remaining opponents, [FISH]RIZZ, using a Maddox RFB.
To be fair, the game is new and he's still learning the controls using mouse and keyboard. But, this can be added to the new bulleted list of times summit has lost a game due to a misplaced molotov.
“I’m not picking up Mollys in this game. I refuse,” summit said directly after. “It haunts me bro, the Molotov moment haunts me!”
Sorry, summit. We love you, but fire is hot. In the great, immortal words of JoshOG as the match ended: "RIP!"
