Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is currently one of the hottest competitive gaming titles on the market with its launch seeing a great deal of success. From breaking sales records to topping the viewership charts for live streaming platform Twitch, the new Blackout battle game mode, revamped multiplayer experience and challenging zombies maps has led Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 to be played by some of the biggest personalities Twitch has to offer. This was the case on Monday, October 15th when the likes of Fortnite legend Tyler "Ninja" Belvins and Player Unknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) legend Michael "shroud" Grzesiek decided to chase some victories and high kill amounts in Blackout.
Both shroud and Ninja have been actively playing the Blackout battle royale game mode for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 since it was released and have been two of the most watched streamers for the highly popular game mode. With shroud and Ninja both routinely pulling in tens of thousands of viewers, there were plenty of eyes watching the two battle royale superstars play Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout together in order to see what highlight plays Ninja and shroud would pull off together and their thoughts on the newest challenger in the battle royale genre.
Esports journalist and consultant Rod "Slasher" Breslau was able to catch shroud and Ninja discussing the potential longevity of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 with shroud believing, as with previous entries in the franchise, that the excitement for the new title will die out rather quickly. Ninja went to explain that he disagreed with shroud based on Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 introducing the Blackout battle royale game mode and how the addition will keep the game in the spotlight compared to if the title only had multiplayer.
This convo sums up why Black Ops 4 will succeed for Call of Duty.@shroud: "At the end of the day it's CoD and I feel people are going to get over it pretty quick"@Ninja: "..The only reason i disagree is because of Battle Royale. The game will get old if it's just Multiplayer" pic.twitter.com/46Yc4916uC

While the yearly release cycle of a new Call of Duty title has created a situation where players who may not be incredibly passionate Call of Duty fans are very excited with the newest entry at launch but then grow tired of the title soon afterwards, the true test of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's staying power will be how the game and its three main modes maintain their popularity in the coming months.
Fortunately for the latest Treyarch developed title, due to the battle royale genre being on top of the video game industry at the moment, it would not be surprising to see Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 carry on as a main competitor to the likes of Fortnite in the future based on its Blackout game mode. However, Treyarch will need to provide consistent content updates in order to keep Blackout fresh and exciting.
