The Enclave are one of Fallout’s oldest factions. First seen in Fallout 2, they’re comprised of descendants of members of the pre-War U.S. shadow government. They were only mentioned in passing in Fallout 4, but it seems like they’ll play a much larger role in Fallout 76. The official Fallout Twitter account tweeted out an image of an Enclave member yesterday, alongside the official Enclave logo.
Just before the bombs fell, US leadership re-located to a remote Oil Rig off the coast of San Francisco. The Enclave’s mission – to re-establish governmental control of America from key locations, like a secret bunker hidden somewhere deep in Appalachia... #Fallout76 pic.twitter.com/ISnqcVwheE

“Just before the bombs fell, US leadership re-located to a remote Oil Rig off the coast of San Francisco,” the tweet reads. “The Enclave’s mission – to re-establish governmental control of America from key locations, like a secret bunker hidden somewhere deep in Appalachia... “
Where is that bunker? We’ve not the foggiest of ideas. Fallout 76 doesn’t have any non-playable characters though, so it seems like the Enclave will be represented by the players themselves. We reckon you’ll be able to join the organisation and carry out quests for them, rather than interacting with actual members of the faction.
It’ll be interesting to see where the morality of the Enclave lies in Fallout 76 too, because they haven’t been particularly kind in previous games. They’re the most technologically-advanced faction in the Fallout universe but they’re known for not taking in outsiders as new recruits, unlike the Brotherhood of Steel. They consider wastelanders, super mutants and everything else that isn’t part of their group as abominations. In previous games, they’ve even been known to kidnap entire towns and groups of people to use them as test subjects.
On October 23, 2077, the world was plunged into nuclear war. But what if you expected the worst? And planned for it? In Appalachia, a group of doomsday preppers did exactly that. Organized as the Free States, they holed up in their bunkers. And survived. At least, for a while… pic.twitter.com/a85PAvAVCQ

They’re not the only confirmed faction - Bethesda tweeted out about a brand new faction called the Responders the day before. We don’t know much about them at all yet, but they don’t sound as menacing as Raiders. It seems like they’ll be another option for players to join. In other Fallout 76 news, check out how private servers and modding will be supported - on PC at least.
