In addition to World of Warcraft Classic coming in 2019, Blizzcon announced that the game that led to WoW, Warcraft III, is also being remastered for next year.

During the Opening Ceremonies for Blizzcon, Warcraft III Reforged was among the announcements given on Friday, coming in 2019. Joining the remastered version of Starcraft, Warcraft III is a defining moment for the franchise that lead to the super-successful World of Warcraft.

Warcraft 3 included (and will include) three campaigns, focusing on Thrall, Sylvanas, and Arthas. The Orc, Undead, and Elf campaigns were known for highlighting several key moments in the lore. But, the human campaign focusing on Arthas and his downfall is one of the most famous scenes in the entire franchise. The remastered edition will span across Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne.

The game will have two options: Standard Edition and Spoils of War Edition. The Spoils of War Edition, like past collector’s editions of Blizzard games, will unlock items and skins in other games alongside it. For World of Warcraft players, the Lich King’s favorite, the Meat Wagon, debuts as a mount. For Hearthstone, starting November 5, anyone that pre-purchases Spoils of War will get The Third War card back for their decks. Heroes of the Storm players get Jaina, Thrall, Anub’arak, and Tyrande unlocked for their game.

The mention of a Diablo pet is included, but nothing official has been announced. Additionally, other “goodies” are unrevealed for StarCraft: Remastered and StarCraft II. Based on past experiences, it’s likely to be a avatar picture related and maybe a special skin for units in the games.

Warcraft 3: Reforged is a full revamp of the original classic. The entire game is fully remodeled, with remastered maps and campaigns. The updated UI and World Editor is likely to bring tons of additional content from the community. It’ll be remastered in full 4K resolution for its 2019 release. Not specific dates have been given, though.

Speaking with famed Warcraft 3 shoutcaster, Jannes “Neo” Tjarks, he explained to us what he sees in the future of this. “The Hero skins looks super sick!” he exclaimed. “I’m pretty impressed, since it's so much harder than remastering StarCraft: Remastered. It's a huge chance to bring WC3 back on bigger esports stages, too. I can't wait to touch it!”

Blizzcon attendees will get to play the Culling mission from Warcraft 3: Reforged at Blizzcon as a demo this weekend, but folks at home have to just watch the announcement video on loop until next year. Speaking of Blizzcon, check out the official announcement of the real-world Overwatch cereal, Lucio-Ohs. Then, take a look at Hero 29, Ashe, that was announced for Overwatch as well.
