The Overwatch League is off with a bang in week 1 of stage 2, and now we can see which of the teams from Day 2 made their mark, and which teams need a little re-tuning.

Stage 2 of the Overwatch League is well and truly underway now, and we’ve already seen some excellent matches. With the Houston Outlaws taking on the London Spitfire, New York Excelsior taking on Florida Mayhem, and Boston Uprising taking on the Philadelphia Fusion, we’re sure to see some excellent games from day 2.

Houston Outlaws Vs London Spitfire

The first match of the day kicked off with a bang, with Houston taking on London in a close match on Volskaya Industries. The last time these two teams faced off, Houston was able to take down London in a decisive 3-1 fashion, and while this match was much closer, Houston were able to again secure the victory over the Stage 1 Champions. Both teams played to their strengths, though it was on Nepal and King’s Row that Houston was truly able to shine, eliminating the London squad with plenty of percentage and time to spare. The final map was a real nail biter, but Houston was once again able to assert their dominance on the Control Maps.

New York Excelsior Vs Florida Mayhem

A lot of attention has been paid to this new and improved Florida line-up, as they make their stage 2 debut against New York. The last match between these two teams was something of a trouncing, as Florida was not able to take a map away from New York, barely managing to turn the Assault map into a draw. Today’s match was a lot closer, with Florida managing to beat out New York on their Control Map, Lijiang Tower. Sadly for the team in yellow, that would be their only successful map of the day, though they did come close on their first map of the day, the Assault map Hanamura. With the new Florida roster still needing time to gel, hopefully they are able to show more fire in their games to come.

Boston Uprising Vs. Philadelphia Fusion

The final match of the day is something akin to revenge for the Philadelphia Fusion. After losing to Boston 4-0 back in Stage 1, Philadelphia were out for blood, as evidenced by their extremely quick victory on the first map, Hanamura, holding Boston to a single checkpoint, while equalling their score in only one-and-a-half minutes. Philadelphia would go on to win the rest of the maps in fairly rapid succession, avenging their earlier loss in Stage 1, and setting the scene for the matches to come.

With day 1 done and dusted, it’s time to look towards the games to come, as we still have two more days’ worth of matches to go for Week 1 of Stage 2.
