A new milestone for the popular TCG as Hearthstone crosses the 100 million player mark.

Hearthstone, the hugely popular virtual card game from Blizzard Entertainment, has passed an impressive milestone, reaching over 100 million players. Initially released back in 2014, the free to play game has seen fans rally behind it with repeated excellent expansions, leading to this accomplishment.

To celebrate this milestone, Blizzard will be hosting an in-game event to give away free card packs and gold.

“Starting November 7 at 10:00 am PST through November 11, everyone who logs in will receive six free The Boomsday Project card packs. Then hang out and play with friends to earn up to 500 gold! Everyone* will receive the Celebrate the Players quest which rewards 100 gold when you play a friendly challenge. This celebratory quest is repeatable up to five times—you can even do them all in the same day!—for a total of 500 gold!”

This milestone comes as Blizzard unveils their latest expansion, Rastakhan’s Rumble, at BlizzCon 2018. The latest expansion adds more than just a ton of new cards to the mix, but also introduces a new mechanic, Overkill, to the game. Overkill is a new keyword that triggers when a minion is killed with damage that exceeds the minion’s health.
