Wondering about the Red Dead Redemption 2 Online beta dates and when you can finally get stuck into Red Dead Online? We've got everything you need to know about Red Dead 2 Online.

Just like when Grand Theft Auto V released, the online portion was nowhere to be seen for the first month or so. Again with Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar is taking its time before releasing Red Dead 2 Online in order to make sure it’s the best product it can possibly be. But when does Red Dead Online launch and the Red Dead Online beta start? Here’s everything we know about the Red Dead Redemption 2 Online beta.

Red Dead Online beta start date

Before the launch of Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar said that the Red Dead Online beta would be coming in November. The problem is that now we’re over a week into November and we’re still not playing Red Dead Online.

In an earnings call, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick clarified further that it will commence the public beta “towards the end of the month”. At least it’s been further clarified that by November 30, we’ll be able to play Red Dead Redemption 2 Online.

How can I play the Red Dead Online beta?

To get involved with the Red Dead Redemption 2 Online beta, all you need to do is own a copy of Red Dead Redemption 2. And the correct console to play it on, of course. And an internet connection. A controller would be handy also, since Sony and Microsoft haven’t implemented telepathy yet.

Jokes aside, this means that you don’t need to sign up for anything or search online. Eventually, the Red Dead Online beta will begin and you can get stuck in from the main menu in-game.

What will Red Dead Online be like?

What will Red Dead Redemption 2 Online be like? Truth be told, we’re not sure yet. You’ll be riding on horses and probably shooting guns, and there will almost certainly be some element of PvP. We do know the Red Dead Redemption 2 world found in single-player will be the same environment you’ll explore in Red Dead Online, but we’re not sure if any areas will be inaccessible or not.

It’s important to remember that it will be the Red Dead Redemption 2 Online beta to begin with though. Expect server troubles and bugs for the initial period before it launches properly. We don’t know when the Red Dead 2 Online beta will finish, though we’re expecting it to end sometime in December ready for the full launch before Christmas. That’s just an educated guess though - don’t take it as gospel!
